In the battle of Badr, Muhammad beheaded 800 jewish prisoners who wouldn't convert to islam. The jews who survived the mass islamic beheading were the ones who converted to islam.

Pope Ratswhatever made an issue of this...the only thing worthwhile the stupid old man has done. The pope was criticizing the very existance of such a doctrine...that is...a doctrine that legitamizes forced relgious afflitation.

How do muslims defend this? They just deny it. Here's how the game is played -

"why forced conversions in islam"

there are no forced conversions

"of course there are...it started with muhammad beheading prisoners who didn't convert"

"that wasn't a forced conversion...let me explain...(as if there ever could ever be any explaination)".

Forced conversions just prove that Islam was just a tool to make one's society stronger. There is no reason to coerce someone to practice a religion he does not believe in.

The most absurd explanation I have heard for Islamic barbarism was written last year in the Chicago Tribune. An Islamic scholar was trying to defend Islam, and the lengths he went to in trying to explain the lunacy was either hilarious or pathetic, depending on your perspective. Regarding death versus forced coersion, he maintained that, since a person could relent at the very last second of his life and accept Muhammed, forced conversion was not necessary. Death was only required when the person refused to accept Muhammed, but since there was still a chance this person might admit his mistake someday, killing him was unnecessary.

I suppose if they had a crystal ball, which showed the person not converting by the end of his life, then death would still be compulsory.

Isn't it pathetic?

1st of all check ur facts.........battle of badr wasnt fought wid da jews, it was with the meccans. what ur talkin abt is the battle of "khandaq"
Now beheading the jews WASNT coz they werent convertin 2 islam. The Muslims had entered a treaty with them that in case of an attack on Madinah they would defend the city along with them, the Muslims had made no defensive arrangement there and had even sent their families to take shelter in the forts situated on that side. The invaders perceived this weakness of the Islamic defenses. They sent Huyayy bin Akhtab, the Jewish leader of the Bani an-Nadir, to the Bani Quraizah so as to induce them to break the treaty and join the war. In the beginning, they refused to oblige and said that they had a treaty with Muhammad (saw) who had faithfully abided by it and given them no cause for complaint. But when Ibn Akhtab said to them, "Look, I have summoned the united force of entire Arabia against him: this is a perfect opportunity to get rid of him. If you lose it, you will never have another opportunity," the anti Islamic Jewish mind prevailed over every moral consideration and the Bani Quraizah were persuaded to break the treaty.

It was Sa'd n not prophet(saw) who gave the orders 2 behead the jews. The people of (the tribe of) Quraiza agreed upon to accept the verdict of Sa'd. The Prophet sent for him (Sa'd) and he came. The Prophet said (to those people), "Get up for your chief or the best among you!" Sa'd sat beside the Prophet and the Prophet said (to him), "These people have agreed to accept your verdict." Sa'd said, "So I give my judgment that their warriors should be killed .

So ur whole argument is baseless.

Well, in Islam there is no force compulsion in religion. "Let there be no force compulsion in relgion: Truth stands out clear from Error..." Quran Ch.2 V.256. I don' where you got this information, but if it's an anti-Islamic site or so then of course it's obviosly biased, but we should look at the credible sources and look at all evidence before coming to a conclusion. Its good to have an open heart and open mind and use the faculty of reasoning.

I do agree with sis Habayeb.
The reason for the order of Execution was not because they did not embrace Islam but because they did break the treaty and they did a war crime against Muslims in Medinah City (Capital of Islam).

in no way. Like "metorido" stated: "Muslim Extremist are continually breaking Islamic regulation." we don't need to be certain Muslims compelled conversion to different Religions. regardless of terrorists are doing in call of Islam is thoroughly incorrect. regrettably, not everybody follows their faith, notwithstanding it does not mean that the religion is responsible. Our Islamic thought does not coach them to be like that. somewhat, Islam says a large punishment waiting on judgment day for his or her awful strikes. would Allah enlighten their expertise.

"treat the prisoners of war kindly" is the words of Mohammad(pbuh). Islam has set down rules for warfare, detailing when Muslims should fight, whom they should fight, and how they should fight.
In the time of the Prophet Muhammad, the Muslims set an unprecedented standard for the ethics of dealing with captured enemies. They treated prisoners of war in a manner that has yet to be imitated in history. Islam set the basic rule that the captive is protected by his captivity and the wounded by his injury.

Islam instructs Muslims either to free captives who cannot offer ransom (in the form of money or an equivalent number of Muslim captives) or to ransom prisoners of war.

Prisoners of war are not to be humiliated or degraded in any way. They have the right to their human dignity and the right to be protected from sexual, emotional, and physical abuse. Sufficient health care should be provided for prisoners who need it. Proper food and clothing should also be provided, as well as sanitary facilities. The Prophet also instructed his Companions to shelter their prisoners from the summer sun and to provide them with water to drink.

Captives are invited to learn about Islam, but they are under no pressure whatsoever to convert. [There is no compulsion in religion] (Al-Baqarah 2:256) means that sincerity is an essential requirement of one’s faith, so, therefore, no one can be coerced to become a Muslim nor should anyone convert to seek some worldly benefit.

you need to find some accurate sources.

"NO COMPULSION IN RELIGION VERSE" (Koran 2:256)
Mohammeds earlier verses which were much more tolerant were replaced by his later verses which were aggressive and intolerant.
The Qur’an is unique among sacred scriptures in teaching a doctrine of abrogation according to which later pronouncements of the Prophet abrogate, i.e.: declare null and void, his earlier pronouncements
The reason for the revelation of this verse 2:256 was that the women of Ansar used to make a vow to convert their sons to Judaism if the latter lived. And when the tribe of Bani an-Nadhir was expelled from Madinah, some children of Ansar were among them, so their parents could not abandon them; hence Allah revealed: "There is no compulsion in religion…"

But, this verse is abrogated by a later.
Verse of "Fighting": "You shall be called to fight against a people given to great warfare, then you shall fight them, or they shall surrender" (sura 48:16). Allah also says: "O Prophet! Strive hard against the disbelieves and the hypocrites, and be harsh against them" (9:73), and He says, "O you who believe! Fight those of the disbelievers who are close to you, and let them find harshness in you, and know that Allah is with those who are the Pious, (9:123).

Therefore, all people of the world should be called to Islam. If anyone of them refuses to do so, or refuses to pay the Jizya they should be fought till they are killed. This is the meaning of compulsion.

Koran 3:85

If anyone desires a religion other than Islam,
never will it be accepted of him; and in the
Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have
lost all spiritual good.

!(21:107).” [O Muhammad We sent you not, but as a mercy for all creature.”

Horrendous Episodes in Medina
Mohammed's followers were taking one after another all those 900 unconditionally surrendered Jews of Banu Qurayza tying theirs both hands with their necks and were beheading those Jews near the trench dug in the Bazar of Medina. History also tells us that the Prophet of Islam himself participated in digging trench to bury those beheaded Jews and he himself beheaded at least two of the leading Jews. What was the scenario prevailed among those unfortunate wives and children of surrendered Jews?
He could have easily let them go away (exiled) from that land. As a holy prophet he could sanction clemency to let them leave Arabia for some other destination. But he did not consider this an alternative. Those Jews did not accept prophet Muhammad’s new religion, and that’s it. Maybe they insulted, or even harmed prophet by their conspiracy or they may have broken any peace treaty.
Were these crimes anyway justified by beheading???

most conversions are forced. in the medieval times and before that the christian religion spread by forced conversions. try searching out how the russian king converted all his people to christianity. it's the same in other parts of europe too. the descendents of these converts are the ones who are now preaching against islam's forced conversions.
