So so sorry to hear of your Dads suffering, You say he can not use morphine because he only has one lung? Not all morphine is the same darling, there is a tablet he can use ,which is morphine, yet it comes in varied strenghths, its colour coded,it starts as low as 5mg, you can cut them in half...they go to 50mg which as you can imagine is extremely dangerous,so be aware, its slow release, so if he does begin to have problems they will be mild,on a lower dose, your doctor has no right to with hold medication from a person with such a painfill evil desease, failing this honey your dr can induce a coma like state for as long as required, this is possible at home,as much as they will tell you he has to go in to hospital,if you and your family wish to care for your Dad at home then do so,you wont get this time back, and you will `wonder what if` when you can do anything about it,do your `what ifs `now take it from me honey,be the boss, get Dad sorted and savour every minute you have together,I hope he doesnt suffer any more than is necessary..its NEVER necessary, take charge and savour Good Luck to you all x x x

Your fathers doctor or pain management team should be able to advise you about his pain. There are many other types of pain medications other than morphine. That should not even be an issue.
Check with the National Comprehensive Cancer Network that offers a professional clinical guideline for pain managment:
NCCN: Adult Pain Management
http://www.nccn.org/professionals/physician_gls/PDF/pain.pdf
Incidentally, my son is allergic to morphine and whenever he has had surgery they used fentonol or duladid for pain management.
Hope you can find comfort for your father. It's very hard to see someone you love suffer.

Your father's medical team shoul dbe able to address his pain issues. I recently lost my father to advanced small cell lung cancer, and when morphine lost it's effectiveness in managing his pain, his doctor put him on tablet form Methadone, which worked wonders. There is also a patch drug that is very useful for easing severe pain in cancer patients, called Fentanyl. This also worked very well for my dad, even in the very end. You can read about the patch system below. Good luck, and I hope everything works out ok for your family!

Morphine is an old and very effective pain reliever. He can use morphine with 1 lung. If he is in severe pain, he needs to tell his Oncologist, so he can be prescribed higher doses of morphine or even dilaudid.
Please dont let your dad suffer. Have mercy. Ask his physician for a hospice referral.

Noni juice, works better than morphine no side effects and it's all natural. Most health stores will carry it, if not check out www.alohanoni.com. It also helps with inflammation. Good luck.
