Resolution is basically how defined a picture is. Digital video is basically a mosaic, made up of tiny pixels (picture cells). The higher the resolution, the more pixels, and the more defined a picture is. A good example is if you were trying to arrange sticks to create a letter. If you could make an S from 3 sticks, but it will look very pointy. However, if you used 10 smaller sticks, you could make it smoother and more defined. It's the same thing with resolution, the more pixels there are, the more defined it looks. As for 640x480, it is fairly good, however HD resolutions can go up to 1920x1080 pixels. Hope this helps!

well... more the resolution, more the clearer image, 640 x 480 resolution is the general resolution of tv's(its good to be watched on a tv, but not as good to be watched on the compu. the more the resolution the BEST!

When used for TV, it has come to mean the number of lines and number of pixels per line in the picture. What more resolution provides is the ability to present finer detail in the picture. The higher the resolution, the more detail that can be included. Note that this does NOT necessarily mean a sharper-looking picture, but it often does.

the size you mentioned would be medium quality.
fine for a computer screen but probably not much use on a TV.
