In 1996 I was sentenced to 5 years for stabbig a guy 5 times.I did my time, and got out. I understand why I can't own a gun .No argument there ,but I can still legaly walk down the street with a hunting knife strapped to my leg As long as it's not concealed ( I don't) but why is this still leagal. I have asked police officers and they say it's just how the laws are .

The reason is they don't want you to lose control with a more dangerous weapon. And if you have been violent behavior chances are you will hurt someone again, pulling a trigger is much easier than stabbing someone if you lose your cool. In the service they gave us bayonets and M-16 machine guns but would not allow us to carry a knife more than 4 1/2 inch's long on our person, but that was following another country's law. And I don't think it's so stupid, I have know people with a temper that have no remorse, 5 years ain't nothing. Just like drinking if you drank and was a drunk you are not supposed to drink ever again and will always be considered a sober drunk.

Politically, it is easier to pass gun laws, since many people don't understand their constitutional rights.

However, many people carry a pocket knife of some type or another, or remember their "boyhood years" with a folding jack knife with fondness. Telling them that knives kill people and must be registered and controlled would sound pretty silly to them. And that would get them to thinking that the gun laws are just as silly. Can't have that, smart, aware, and informed voters are the natural enemy of the Democrat Liberal.

No. it incredibly is a suitable they lost while they commited the criminal. Misdemeanors at the instant are not secure. aside from kinfolk violence. Which in some states is a misdemeanor. it incredibly is a Federal regulation no longer basically a St. regulation. And besides why could you desire to place a firearm into the palms of a Felon?

Knife laws are extremely outdated. It is a bigger penalty to carry a knife illegally (felony) than a gun (misdemeanor). I agree, the laws are backwards. However, my personal view is to not allow the felon either.
