There is a sovereign move of God back to intersesory prayer. Many of us at church are called to intersessory prayer. Pastor was ministering about prayer and how much it is desperatly needed in these times. He called all of us forward who felt that tugging on our hearts concerning prayer intersessors. I was one of them. He then sais "I don't know how you start a 24 hour prayer center in a church but we are going to move forward in this."
Soooo, Any ideas or experience out there? We sure could use the help.

At our Church,we make a large cardboard clock. We had people volunteer to pray the Hours they wanted. Most people came in a group or at late night couples.
We set up a prayer line on the phone.People called in for prayer. It was slow at first.
But just having people at church praying you could feel the difference at each service.
We made sure that we had a group of people who couldn't come out to sign up for home prayer.
God really moves in a church seeking Him.
Now we only have 6:am prayer 12pm. 6:pm.Gos is still moving. We never have a service someone doesn't get saved.
God Bless your work and labor of love.

We use the Internet. We have a prayer group at church itself. And one that is e-mail based. When there is a prayer need the person calls the parish office or e-mails the leader of the group directly and the group members get a list of who to pray for.

The best phone in prayer line are the Unity people. I call there myself and those people really know how to pray. I can tell you a story that would curl your hair, it is so amazing!! They have a direct link if every I saw one!! Check them out.

They have someone that prays with you. Then they put your name in their prayer chapel and pray for you for the next 30 days. And if you want they send some really cool literature too. Call them once and see what they do. I love those people.

As for your local church. The e-mail as I suggested works. And when we have a serious prayer request we have an all day event. Last year was the first time that we did this. We started at 7:00am with Mass, and then noon prayers, evening prayers and compline at 7:00pm. Also 2 by 2 we signed up for 30 minutes each throughout the day. The major intention of our prayer was a member who was given 2 weeks to live. We thought that she was going to have surgery that day and that was the reason we came together. When we found out the day before that the cancer was so advanced that they could not operate we went ahead with the plans anyway. And guess what? She was totally healed!! Every time I see her I remember the power of God and of prayer. Because of this some of us are starting a healing ministry. It requires study first.
Also we have a prayer bowl where people can put in a card with their prayer request and members of the prayer team use that in the prayer time that we have after the Sunday service. At this we have 2 people who sit together and pray for any intention that has come to us in the prayer bowl or if people what to come to the chapel and ask us to pray with them we do it then.
