I will be surprising my girlfriend with a proposal in a week or two, and need some help.

Which restaurants in downtown Toronto will offer me a nice, classy, quiet and AFFORDABLE dinner for two so I can pop the question? No CN Tower answers please, it's too cliche.

The old Barber house in Streetsville is very nice, So is Barbazon in Mississauga or Olivers in Oakville. Maybe Marche in Toronto or the Keg Mansion or if you want a trendy Jazz club, try Gate 403 (the music will set the mood)
My first choice would be The Old Barber House. Its cozy, and affordable
by the way, good luck and Congratulations.

My husband and I dined at this wonderful restaurant down on Harborfront called Captain John's. It is a restaurant that's inside of a large ship (I'm sure you've seen it before.) It's a seafood restaurant and they have excellent service! We didn't have reservations or anything, and the waiter came to us at the front entrance and escorted us to a corner table. He provided us with bread and butter while we were waiting for our meal, and kept coming to us a few times during our meal. However, the meals cost about 20 dollars a plate, so I don't know if that is above your budget or not. We only went their once, but it was just amazing. The environment is very mellow and relaxed, with dim lights and suave waiters. And before you go for dinner, you can always have a nice walk on the boardwalk. Here is a website with their phone number and map, you can call them if you have any questions.

Good luck!

The Fifth is the most beautiful rrom in the city www.thefifthgrill.com.

It is so elegant, and you have to go up in an old converted freight elevator to get there. So beautiful, classy, and exquisite. They have changed the menu recently... used to be tastings, but not anymore. They have an amazing patio in the warmer months, where everything is draped so feel like you are in your own outdoor private dining room.

go to the website and click on the galleries for both the dining room and the terrace,,, you won't find a more romantic spot in town!

Click on the food photos to see what's in store - will you be too nervous to enjoy the food? I hope not!

Phone for reservations and tell them what you have planned. Ask for a romantic table.

Wishing you "all the best" - a very happy life together.
