Hypertension can be cured or eliminated in natural way and not just relying on drugs which may cause serious side effects.
You may supervise your husband doing these on a daily basis:
cardiovascular exercises(e.g. running, walking, biking, etc)
Low sugar, Low salt and Low calorie deit.
Avoid fried and fatty foods.
eat 5 servings of fruits and vegetable a day.
take multivitamins and omega 3 supplements.
Drink plenty of water and green Tea.
This is a total lifestyle change and you may need time to guide and support your husband.
Good luck!

It is rare that any patient can have hypertension controlled by one medicine. This is because the medicines work together to control the multiple chemical reactions in the body that cause the blood pressure to be what it is in any particular person. Each person should first make multiple lifestyles changes which will often reduce blood pressure. However, there are many people who live healthy lifestyles who still have hypertension. This is often because of genetic tendencies. It is impossible to "cure" hypertension either with lifestyle changes or holistic cures and also with medicines; hypertension is not curable. Individuals have to eat properly and exercises as well as sometimes take multiple medicines.

I agree, it is the lucky person with essential hypertension who manages to control it with one medication. Diabetics typically need three or four. But as also mentioned above, sometimes hypertension CAN be cured, if there is an underlying cause, such as renal artery stenosis or pheochromocytoma. The DASH diet, published by NIH, has been clinically tested, and can lower systolic blood pressure by as much as 20mmHg. Definitely a first step for the highly motivated individual with SBP under 160mmHg. I managed to get a few people off blood pressure medications with the DASH diet. Are they "cured"? Depends on your definition. Maybe the foods they had been eating gave them high blood pressure, maybe the food they switched to is "curing" them. Purely a matter of semantics.

The ACE and ARB meds to protect my kidneys did not at all affect my blood pressure which in a normal person would have been normal, but in a diabetic are considered to be at stroke level. I developed a potassium problem with combination of ARB and my food plan. So the cardiologist yanked me off the ARB and said to never take it or the ACE again - ever!! He recommended Amlodipine for blood pressure. Not too many nasty side effects with it and it yanked my "stroke level bp" down to 110/55 which pleased cardio and endo both! Family Practitioner wanted to put me back on the ACE and I argued that cardio said never again! High potassium causes strokes too! Hair loss!! My son and my nephew are both nearly bald! Neither were on meds before they lost their hair. Some women think bald means a "super sex machine lives below". It may just be your genetics causing the hair loss. But meds do have a lot to do with hair and if you have it, have too much, have too little, have none at all. We never did figure out why the old cowboy in the bunkhouse suddenly went bald. He lost not only the hair on top of his head, but eyelashes, eyebrows, mustache, and all other hair on his bod. He sprayed the ranch dogs for fleas and ticks, and a month later he was totally hairless. Dogs were fine.
