I plan on riding the GAP (Great Allegheny Passage) next week and was wondering what I should take with me, as in what kind of tools, food, and so on... Thank you.

Tube, patch kit, Specialized Tool kit(kinda like a Swiss army knife for bikes) CamelBak with water, and either some trail mix or a granola bar.

30 miles is not too far on road or off, so the ride will probably take 3-4 hours maybe less depending on how aggressive you are.

I'd bring a coule of key things. Of course, a cell phone is never a bad idea. Bring an extra tube, a pump, and some allen keys. Even if you do not personally know how to fix things, somebody will and having the tools is crucial. Don't forget to bring some food too. A lot of people focus on burning calories, but don't take into account the fact that the body needs fuel.

Make sure your bike is safety checked & tuned up, start hydrating 2 days ahead, eat a good dinner the eve before & a good breakfast that morning.
On-the-bike food options would be protein/carb bars like Cliff, fruit like a banana & apple, granola, oatmeal cookies, sandwich crackers. The rule is eat, drink & pee. Eat before you are hungry & drink before your thirsty. I always use a camelback for water. I drink more then when I just use bottles.
I also pack an ID & medical info, handwipes or purell, butt butt'r/glide or chammis cream & I wear sunscreen.
If you wear contacts bring a spare, mirror & eye drops.
Most important though is a helmet of course!
Have fun!

If you're doing the whole 381 miles, you'll want a change of clothes and toiletries. And some cash for food / lodging. Maybe camping gear.

Here's a good site for resources:
