My grandfather has been asking me this for years. Supposedly this is a riddle and it has been bugging me forever because I do not understand it. Can anyone help me out with this?

I feel your pain because its bugging me too and I don't even know either of you. Maybe that was your first sentence to him and he doesn't realize that you don't remember saying that when you were a 1 year old. What are some other meanings for the word "crackers?" Is that it? I 'on' know...

I have a problem similar to that.. my friend loves Ritz cracker.. and always has a bag with him, straight from the box.. and he always offers me crackers.. and doesn't take no for an answer. I think he's a spokesperson for Ritz.

based on what aloysius wrote, and also because the internet is annyingly limited sometimes: I think he is asking for pie.
Apologies to grandfather, if this is correct.
Did anyone else get this answer (besides aloysius, who is keeping mum on the subject to help you out).

Great riddle!

The answer is quite simple, keep thinking about it, but let me give you a big hint...do not think of the food crackers, but rather look at the Latin word for the root word of crackers.

Clever man, clever man indeed!
