~I wouldn't draw them - you need something that looks a little more official than a sketch. But if you insist on drawing them (especially without the advice and assistance of an attorney), for goodness sakes - don't do it in crayon.

Well, first you would have to show GOOD reason why you should have custody temporarily. I would recommend at least consulting with a lawyer if the child's parent is contesting the custody. If the parent agrees all you should need is a notarized statement from the parents (depending on what state you live in). In any case, consult with a lawyer for the specific guidelines for your state. Most lawyers will do a consultation for a minimal charge.

You really do need to speak with an attorney. You can contact the State Bar Association, they can help direct you to several attorneys in your area that could help you, call the attorneys offices, some attorneys still have free appointments, then ask them to explain what you need to do, how much time it should take, etc. In certain states you could file the documents at the clerk of courts....but if you don't file everything the court requires, you've just wasted your filing fee, court dates, everything. Also you may want to contact the Division of Family & Children, sometimes they can help with this type of paperwork. Good luck.

Go to the District Attorney. There are legalities to this ... and the parent must be in agreement. If they are in jail, they still have to agree to it. If you are going to do it, do it legally or it can come back to bite you in the long run. Good luck!

Learn to spell first, then mind your own business. Unless they are beating or molesting the kid, stay out of it. If they are doing that, call the cops and they will be happy to bring the child to you after they investigate.

You can't just do that yourself. You need a court or a lawyer to do that.
