The doctor wanted me to put her on South Beach Phase 2, but my 6 year old isn't going to eat those meals. I need something to follow for her age.

I also had to put my daughter on a special diet. While I mostly try to give her fruit, vegetables etc, I have started using mostly organic food. For breakfast she drinks a protein shake (which I do as well) and this fills her up while giving her the necessary nutrients. She doesn't need to lose weight, but her thyroid is out of control so along with medication we had to come up with a diet plan to keep her little body under control. She has adjusted well, but I think they usually do at a younger age. She also loves the protein shakes because they are chocolate, her favorite!! I would recommend doing fruits, veggies, whole grain products, or organic products. I don't know what else to recommend because you didn't indicate why she needs a diet plan (weight control, weight loss, health, etc) Hope I helped somewhat.

Throw away all the rubbish in your home and put a bowl of apples and fruit on the table. Believe me she will get hungry sooner or later..Just keep pointing her to the bowl! Battle of the wills!!! Worked for me instead of finding candy wrappers under her bed I found apple cores.

check with your health ins. company, most have a dietitian, I'm suprised all your doctor could come up with is South beach. another place to check is a childrens hospital in your area

when I was growing up we ate the exact some foods as our parents. children don't know what's best for themselves this is exactly why they shouldn't be allowed to select most of the meals that they consume.
