I wouldn't think so, if done properly

I don't know about sinful but why would anyone do that? I just lost my sister, her husband has a death wish. He's been sick with the flu or something the last few days and informed me that he didn't think he was going to make it. Needless to say he got a lecture. He needs to think about the hurt the rest of us are feeling and how much worse it would be if he gave in or gave up because she is not here any longer. My mother is still alive and even though my brother in law has not been the ideal husband, we know that he loved my sister and my mother would be even more devasted as would his children and the rest of us if he died. Sin - I would say most emphatically YES! I don't know why you would ask this or if you are speaking of yourself or someone else. If it's you then think of others rather than just yourself. If you have a disease, then join the club, so do I and it's progressive and I don't look forward to how I could wind up. God will not honor this request unless He is ready for you or whoever may be praying for their death. Believe me, there's been many times that I have not wanted to live but God isn't finished with me yet nor is he finished with you or whoever is praying this prayer.

I apologize if I seem just a liiiiittttttle bit irritated by this question. I've lost a child, my dad, my sister and this just doesn't set well with me at all. Get a grip, life ain't easy but we do have the comfort that God keeps his promises. Change that prayer instead to pray for LIFE and a life that will glorify Christ.

Well, praying for your own death is not trusting God to know what is best, so I guess that is sinful. But you need to realize that no one is without sin. That's why we need Jesus, and why He died to save us. That's why I don't understand unbelievers picking apart the Bible because of every little thing that seems to be a contradiction. The whole point is that we are all sinners, and no matter how much good we do, or how little bad we do, that ALONE does not guarantee us a ticket to Heaven. BTW, I've been guilty of the sin of praying for my own death, but thankfully, God knows best, and didn't answer that prayer with a "yes".

No, ever since I was about seven years old I was told to pray for a happy death. At the time I didn't understand the concept, but now it is perfectly clear. I have elderly relatives who regularly ask God why he does not call them; they are very spiritual people. Causing your own death is a different story.

This is a sin, that's a sin, who the hell can keep track of it all? Probably, yeah--you just can't win with that God guy.

Look, your life probably isn't that bad. You're using a computer, and you probably own it. Half the world hasn't got to use a phone yet, has to carry water from a well, and goes to the toilet outside.

But of course, suffering has nothing to do with circumstance. We're all suffering; we're all in this crap. Look around, you'll probably find someone who's willing to talk to you about it, and that might help.

OK I looked at your past questions to see where you are coming from. I had a worker commit suicide some years back. You may think this will not effect anyone but you ,well you are wrong. One of my daughters friends did the same thing. You need to stop your thinking ,if you can't go talk to someone mature about this.
This really does affect people, real bad. I know...I've seen the after affects!<>< <>< <><
Yes...it is sin. Someone taking the life that God gave us.<>< <>< <><

No it is not sinful, but it is sad. We must live our lives to the fullest. Only God knows what hour He cometh for us. Only He can choose the time. Until then we must try to live a good life. God doesn't give us any more then we can handle. Our families would grieve, if we were gone. So no matter how deep and dark your valley's may be, we must walk up and out of the deep dark valley's. Look Up !! There you will see the beautiful Light. Ask and Ye Shall Receive. When times are difficult , just ask God to help and carry the load. It will get better. God didn't promise us a Rose garden. No matter what difficulties you may have, be strong and do not let them destroy you. Tell yourself this: '' I can do all things thru Christ, who strenghens me. ''

No, I don't think so in the case of a painful terminal illness or some other painful health issue. However, God has a plan for each of us and only He knows when that plan has been fulfilled. It does say that the sufferings of this present time can't compare to the glory that we will have in heaven. It would be better to pray for the strength to endure.

It's like praying for the sun to rise tomorrow.

Actually, it's different, because there's actually a chance of the sun not rising tomorrow.

Death, on the other hand, is a gaurantee.

IDK...Catholicism teaches that human life is sacred. But you're not actually ENDING your life, so...
But I can guarantee you he won't grant it. If you're still alive, God still has a purpose for you.
But here's a better solution. Just pray that whatever hard times you're going through will be resolved. Anything is possible for God, even though it may seem for you that death is your only option. I hope that whatever troubles you're having will be resolved.

Why would you want death to come to you..?

God said that whatsoever things are pure, holy, just, of a good report, if there be any praise, any virtue..think on these things..I don't think praying for your death falls under any of these categories...do you?
God's about life...
