I'm down visiting my family for Easter and last night my boyfriend and I went to the local wal-mart and picked up a wireless router for the desktop computer that they have so I could connect via my laptop I brought with me.

It's a Belkin wireless G router but my computer's cd-tray would not read the install CD. It wouldn't even show up in My Computer. Device manager says nothing is wrong. So we tried downloading the program from their website.

No go. It gave me some error saying the system was missing some DLL file. I believe the ISP is comcast and I'm not so sure on all the other details regarding, but I was wondering what I could possibly do aside from a fresh RE-Install for windows. Which would be a bother and not worth the time and effort as we don't live here and only visit on occasion.

Any ideas on what I can do? If not than it's fine. I could try a fresh install next time I come down.

Thanks guys for any help before hand. =)

I would bet that the software/CD that came with router is not compatible with your OS. Take the router back for a refund and go to a computer store and buy a new router like a Linkskys or ask for recommendation form computer components dept, make sure it comes with CD and install and test out. Also did you set up both computers for networking? You can buy a phone line jack adapter for two line connection and hook up both to same phone line for internet access.
Hope this helps
