I saw a post that I thought was really good and the question was Why do people blame God when they go through problems? I have been sitting under some good teaching at my church and one of the things the preacher said was God is not the big therapist in the sky to take away all your problems and that we live in a fallen world and when sin came in the word so did death and that is why people go through horrific things at times. I have been taking an inventory of my life and I firecly blamed God when all hell broke loose, have you ev er blamed God when you went through hard trials at what point did you come to terms and accept the things you could not change and moved on with your life? This question was on my heart so I thought I would post and ask what was your take on this?

look tell your preacher to get a real Job, God is or refuge and our strength. Cast your burdens upon him. that was Not what your pastor teaches, do it your self. He probably dose not have much faith. That is why he goes to the world. The reason U suffer is because U do not seek his face, Romans 3:11-18 says this. Going your own way, by not seeking his face for understanding will bring destruction and misery in your paths. Peace of the Lord will not be found. So seek his face and ask for HIS righteousness and Holiness. And u can be Good(read the first part over and over till u see) no one does good, NO NOT ONE. God is yelling at u. Cause he is a God who can do all things, If u seek his face HE will make u good unto him. I'm not teaching to blame God, but to put more faith or trust in God.

To theegreatseeker you are way off. The scripture you are referring to is for the people that live under the law. We don't have to live under the law but by grace. Jesus came, lived, died, & suffered in hell for our sins so that we no longer have to live under the law.

As for you question your preacher is right on the money when he says we have fallen. When Adam sinned we all came under the curse of sin but by Jesus death we have a way out.
I never blame God. For the bible tells us every good thing is from the Father(James1:17) & the devil comes to kill, steal, & destroy(John10:10).

If you have called a storm an act of God then you are blaming God for things that are not of his doing.

For the Atheist. Those that have heard his name & refuse to believe will die. This means you will serve eternity in Hell.

I sat here and thought about if I've ever blamed God for my problems and I simply cannot think of a single time where I thought God was to blame. I guess I've always had a realization that it is my own sin that causes my problems, not God.

He's the One who helps me, not causes me problems.

Where does it say--or how is it that you believe that if you are a "wonderful godly person" and are a "believer", that you some how have special protection against having bad things happen to you? What you are quoting is a christian version of "the law of cause and effect." One answer might be that they are 'reaping' what they have 'sown' in another lifetime. How is it that you believe that you or anyone else has the ability or even the right to judge what others do and don't deserve? Getting cancer has nothing to do with being "wonderful godly people', but is a disease of 'suppression' (of emotions). Mental illness can be caused by a variety of factors. You are correct about 'trials'--or 'lessons', but again, the causes of these 'lessons' may have originating sources outside this life time. HInt: Focus on discovering 'patterns' in your own life; or other 'repeating lessons' and you may begin to discover what 'lesson' you are supposed to be learning.

I have gone through some truly horrific things in my life and I never blamed God, I just thank him for giving me the strength to get through it with my sanity and sense of humor intact.

As an Atheist, I take responsibility for my own actions. As I choose what and what not to do, how can I blame a cloud in the sky when it goes wrong?

God nor Satan is responsible for any events positive or negative happening in my life. You may call it free will but I call it freedom to choose my destiny based upon the choices I make today.

I blame whoever or whatever is at fault. Since I do not believe that God exists, I cannot blame God.
