Everybody needs a little help now and then, casting a spell is like praying for the thing that you want. It's just done in a different way. It may or may not come through, or it may work in a way you didn't expect. There is no evil involved.

No its not at all like prayer. The bible renounces this practice.
19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

They fear what they do not understand.

Here's the thing -- spells and magick are subversive, and that frightens people. Magick and Witchcraft are a DIY spirituality -- no priests, no churches, no Holy Writ -- just you, and the Gods/Forces of Nature. If you choose to follow a Magickal Path, as opposed to any Organized Religion, then it demands that you think for yourself. Organized Religion doesn't like that, because it means that Organized Religion can't control you and can't tell you what to think. So they try to scare you with Hell, and Damnation, and Evil. You've seen that in the responses you've gotten to this question. There's a lot of fear out there. If Christianity isn't the One True Religion, if there are other ways, other spiritual paths that are just as valid. . . . . but that possibility is just too terrible and frightening for them to even consider. For them, questioning their faith means Death, and so they are unable to accept the validity of any path that is not theirs.

But there's something else about spells and Magick. It isn't exactly the same thing as prayer -- that's just an apologetic that Wiccans use, to appear less scary to the Normals, but it seems to have become dogma in Wiccan circles. The difference between Prayer and Magick is the difference between Asking and Telling. Prayer is saying "Thine Will be done," and Magick is saying, "This is My Will, so Mote it Be!" Prayer is saying, "Please may I?" and Magick is saying, "Now!" And that's what really scares people about it.

Magick is neither "Good" nor "Evil." It is a tool. Is a hammer good or evil? You can build a house with a hammer, or you can use it to bash in someones skull. The hammer itself did neither of those things. It was all you.

So it is with Magick. It is the intent of the practitioner, not the magick itself, that is either helpful or harmful. You could cast a healing spell for a sick friend, or you could put a curse on your math teacher. I would advise against doing anything you're not willing to take responsibility for, though.

And that is the crux of the matter -- individual responsibility. While you are ultimately free to do your Will, you are also accountable for every thing that you do. Now, some practitioners of Magick (especially Wiccans) get pretty dogmatic on this point. They say that Magick operates by a Three-Fold Law, and that everything you do comes back to you three times over. That seems a bit inefficient to me. Now, I believe in Karma, but why Threefold when One-fold will suffice? Some discussions of the Threefold Law teeter on the edge of Moral Absolutes, which I thought I had left behind when I left Christianity.

But do remember -- you are responsible for everything that you do. Before any spell or magickal working, examine yourself, and be certain that the spell is both needed and justified, and that all mundane avenues have been exhausted. And while you have the absolute right to do your Will, everyone else on the planet also has that right. If you are to fully enjoy the freedom to do your Will, you must be willing to extend that freedom to everyone else. Never interfere with the Will of another, if you truly value your own rights. Isn't that what the Wiccans mean when they say, "An it Harm None?"

And the next time someone tries to tell you that doing Magick or casting spells is "against the Bible," ask them when the last time was that they enjoyed a ham sandwich, or a cheeseburger, or any type of shellfish. All of these things are forbidden by the Bible, just as spells, divination, homosexuality, or tattoos.

Casting spells are evil because it involves the activity of demons. When you are dealing with witch craft you are inviting the presence of demons. And when demons do come they come with a deceptive purpose, to kill, steal, and destroy. If does not matter how innocent the prayer, the devil will use the opportunity to open a door into your life and the lives of others.

Witches and wizards have always been associated with darkness and night, which in turn are associated with evil. Witchcraft spells are rarely evil, especially along Wiccan lines. Now sorcery is a gray area when it comes to evil hehehe.

Because people do not understand the concept and most things that are not understood are labeled as bad. I agree with your statement that it is a form of prayer. There is no evil or manipulation involved, in fact, manipulation or ill thoughts for another is forbidden in my beliefs. Do not worry what others think, it is up to them to find their way. If they prefer to go through life thinking erroneous thoughts and not seeking the truth that is sad, for they choose to remain unenlightened and ignorant. It is their choice!

The evil is in the fact you are going against The One True God,and spells do not work.

I hear what you're saying. . .there's nothing wrong in asking for something from a higher power.

The thing is that we should do our very best to be content with what we get. Always work hard, and then accept the results.

That's just the way i feel about the whole thing.

Casting a spell is like praying....Hmmm I can see that. You have an intention in mind, you ask for some outside help with it, that outside help is non quanifiable. If the thing happens you have what you consider a faith experience. Interesting.

Evil spells variety intensive from inflicting undesirable success to really killing someone. a secure spell to apply, although, is one the position it really is particular to reason as a lot harm to the guy as they did to you (that way it really is really justified.) the following is a spell for that which I really have used from the e book "lack of life and Destruction." you want: pink cranium figural candle Chile oil (or chili in case you're from certain aspects of the country) Grave dirt (paid for! you want to furnish some funds to the lifeless individual once you assemble it) DUME powder namepaper(s) of enemy (or enemies) Sprinkle the namepaper with the dirt. next carve the candle with the words "Be hamed as you harmed" and dress it with the chile oil and DUME powder. Set the candle on the paper. mild it, and enable it burn itself out. even as it really is out, quick as you could collect the papers and leftover wax, dirt and powders and get rid of them in a graveyard.
