The number of dead iraqies is purported to be 650,000. Way mopre than Saddam was supposed to have killed.
What real;ly gets me, is how people are so willing to justify this slaughter. I actually had one person say to me "All you hear in the media are negative things..they don't tell you that we did things like built them a school...". I said "Yes, and I'm sure that any Iraqie would think losing half of his relatives, having his wife raped and losing his home is a small price to pay for having a school, the which he could send his dead children to, to learn hopw to be good communists like most Americans".
People just don't get it. These politicians invent hoaxes like 9-11 which they blame on others, and the media rains down a flood of "patriotism" and people magically lose all sense and logic, and say absurd things that defy even the most basic logic.
It's jusyt amazing the way so many peoples' minds can be so easily controlled.
Glad you brought this up.
Apparently, (as evidenced by some of the answers here) if your country throws a war...then anything it does in that war is O-K, since the goal is to "win the war"- and it seems to matter not to people whether that war is just or based on blatant lies, and just to further someones political agenda.

,I agree with you that not only Americans, but also the people in Iraq,British, and all other country's there is a lot more deaths that are not accounted for even between Muslim sects i would not even be surprised that the amount since we began is more like a total of 100,000 like you i pray for all in the conflict ,there lives are just as important to me as any, they use miss information ,if we were told of the amount of people i don't think it would matter to any one except the families that have to deal with there, pain an emotional problems of the death of a brother, sister, mother, aunt ,uncles ,sons and daughters

Our statistics gets more news media attention, but my local paper does try to provide the stats of death for Iraqi civilians and soldiers.
I think more of them have died than us.
I do hope we can bring the troops home soon. I hate this war.

Yeah, BUT, how many Iraqis have actually died at American hands?
Every day Sunni and Shites kill Hundreds of Innocent Iraqis!
And if the forces pulled out tomorrow, do you honestly think the killing would stop?
NO, get real!

The only way to win wars is to kill more of the enemy than they kill of your side.
Unfortunately, the media only focuses on our losses. They don't give a fair perspective. With all the bad news happening, you'd think that we were in the death throes, rather than the terrorists and their sympathizers.
People in the U.S. especially, have become neutered. We have no longer have a backbone. The throwbacks to the sixties are louder than those who would like to actually see us win, instead of coming home in dishonor.

From what I understand 50,000 is probably a low estimate. I hate to say it, but Americans only seem to value American lives.

Google: < Iraqi war dead > and find: http://www.iraqbodycount.org/ on the 1st page...
*** ~60,000 to ~67,000, estimated. ***
*** (+ 3,546 Coalition troops dead.) ***
*** ( 26,188 Medical Air Transported Injuries.)
http://icasualties.org/oif/ (for bottom 2 figures.)
So, has it been worth it, America? That's a lot of blood, IMO.
