Tsalagi (Cherokee) is the only Southern Iroquoian language. It has speakers of various dialects in North Carolina, Oklahoma, Arkansas and elsewhere. It is a polysynthetic language, which means it has tone and stress patterns that vary by dialect. Tsalagi has a rich written tradition resulting from its status as the only North American language with an indigenously invented writing system, the Cherokee syllabary.

Cherokee speak Cherokee. I bought a book that has English words and their Cherokee word beside each word. It is fun using it. I sent my daughter an email with it. I bought my book at the museum in Lawrence County, Tennessee on the square. http://cherokeeoflawrencecountytn.org/
You might e-mail them about a book or give them a call. There is a good selection of books at the museum.
Sequoyah wrote the Cherokee Language.

This past week, my family traveled to North Carolina to the Cherokee Reservation. On the way there, just southwest of Knoxville, was a Museum on Sequoyah. We got a phamplet at the resting place tourist place on the way that told us of it. We didn't stop this time, as we were driving against time.

The language of the Cherokee may still have remnants of the Northern Iroquois with whom they were associated because they had separated from those nearest linguisitic relatives more than 3,500 years ago.
Cherokee is classed as Southern Iroquois while all other languages of the Iroquois, including Tuscarora, are classed as Northern Iroquois.
Obviously, the Cherokee were once part of the Iroquois Confederacy before they were collectively associated with the Five Civilized Tribes of the Choctaw, Chickasaw, Creek, and Seminole.

Cherokee is the name of their language. It is a member of the Iroquoian language family, which also includes Mohawk, Seneca and Oneida. Cherokee was the first native North American language to develop its own writing system, still in use today.

You know, it's people like you that really get on my nerves with this yahoo answers stuff.
Yes, yahoo answers is great, but to find out the answer to this question in a search engine took less time and effort than it did for you to post this question.
I typed in "Cherokee Language" in the yahoo search bar.
Clicked on the Cherokee Wikipedia site.
Boom. There it is.
Iroquoian.
Two words, two clicks.
Not so hard, eh?
