Universal consciousness, sure I have wondered, the whole Gaea hypothesis you know. Earth itself alive and aware. Again no evidence. I think it is worth exploring. Why shouldn't we consider the extreme end of the spectrum of animism. God is everywhere and in everything. Quarks are conscious, etc. We are just all parts of a super organism that is the universe, etc.
It is a very attractive proposition, and an almost ideal Higher Power!
It is also, unfortunately, untestable.
As a result I can not accept it as real.
I really like John's answer. Yes it would be the ultimate manfestation of "Group Mind!"

You're referring to a couple of psychological theories - what Jung called the 'collective unconsciousness', and also the Gaia theory.
A collective unconsciousness composes of things that you're referring to - archetypes. An archetype is something that we seem to do without realizing someone else has already done it before. What you mentioned, that would be an example. Jung went very, very deeply into this.
There's also the Gaia theory, in which the whole planet is one organism (or functions in as one). It has been advanced to the point that the whole is one mind, that we are all on the same 'wavelength'. Science knows that brains generally work on the same frequency, especially ours - it could explain phenomenon such as telekinesis, telepathy, and maybe even deja vu.

I think your relation is about being human and a product of mass culture. That's a sense of universal conscience, but not in a metaphysical way.
We're moving towards technology that creates universal conscience in our species. This is true for communications. The internet is one example, and contains the contributions of billions of members on our planet.
Of course, there will always be limitations, along the lines of privacy, access, etc, but it's going in that direction.

Yeah that happens all the time...like it just happened tonight infact. I have had a girl attack me verbally and for no real good reason, then tonight a friend who didn't know what happened posted a question about Karma! I feel thats ironic but it had a funny twist.
I was tinking of someone and they emailed me right away....I believe there is a thread that links us all.

The entire universe is formed out of pure consciusness. Just as our minds conjure up dreams during our sleep, the universe is the dream of a magnificent and powerful mind.
