I am leading a group of teenagers in a study of Revelation, something that a lot of adults have never studied.

"Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the the things which are written in it; for the time is near." Revelation 1:3

God Bless you and keep you too.

Yes I have read it from Genesis to Revelation but the reason people say not to do it that way is because you might get bored with it around the book of Leviticus with its rules for living and offering up sacrifices back then, or the book of Numbers where they give a headcount of all the people and tribes. Most people try to encourage you to learn about Jesus and have an understanding of what he did on earth before all that heavy duty stuff the people of Israel and the Levites went through. Because when Jesus made the Ultimate sacrifice on the cross it did away with all the rituals and rules of worship in the Holy Tent of God. So yes, I myself usually tell new Christians or those who really never read the bible to read the Book of John first and the other gospels before going to the Old Testament. But eventually every one should read both New and Old Testaments especially to see how the prophecies came true and how Jesus was and is the Messiah and savior of the world. The bible is what some would say a "book of books" or a book containing many books!! So whatever book within the bible you read, it would be easy to comprehend one at a time, not necessary cover to cover. Plus the books in the New testament are shorter then the ones in the Old testament. So it gives you a feeling you are making process when you read more books say in a month then be stuck back in the Old testament trying to finish up with a larger book. Some even recommend that you read a couple of books from the NT then go back to the OT for variety. Its really a matter of personal taste and what interests you more. Some love history more then other people. Some love reading about the teachings and parables of Jesus and learning about the miracles he did. Some love the psalms and poetry books. And still others want to jump into the prophecies that are all through the bible. So whatever fits your interest but the goal would be to read it in its entirety eventually. Hope that helps!!

Yes. But I have found some people get hung up on Revelations (trying to decipher it). It would be better if they spent more time on Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Revelations was written to a Church under persecution by the Roman Empire. Many of the early Christians were Jewish. They understood the symbolic language, that it meant after the persecution Christ would conquer. Similar symbolic language is in the Book of Daniel in the Old Testament.
It is probably eschatological but prophecy has never been completely understood until after it is fulfilled. Just stay close to Christ always.

Yes. I have read through it, then read, Revelation God's Word for the Biblically Inept series, by Daymond R. Duck. That cleared up things also. Like that the Woman clothed in the Sun in Revelation is the nation of Israel.

What are you talking about? I read Revelation because of the crazy dragons and scorpion men and angel giants in it.

Revelation isn't about blessings, it's about an apocalyptic kill-fest.
