I don't want any more new taxes, and while we're at it, let's scrap the existing ones, too. Or just go with a flat tax rate of 10%. That's good enough for me. Then they can just take 10% off my paychecks and I don't have to file a tax return every year.

Cool........You runnin' for Prez??? You got my vote!!!
Oh Sorry Bostonia. I can't let that one just go by... Perhaps a bit of Economics?? In Mr. Bill's time, they figured a then surplus in Social Security into the General Accounting Budget. Wasn't leagal then and it is no longer figured into the Budget. Oops.... Then the brilliant abolition of long term Tresury Bond auctions. Debt was financed at lower short term rates, looked good on paper (Similar to how the evil capitalist corporations adjust accounting to show profits or losses when needed). However made the Government and Citizens highly vulnerable to a rising interest rate environment. Hmmmmmmm. Which leads to housing price issues. These are just a couple of the long term left overs from the quick fix. So now we pull a Jimmy Carter raise taxes, because Hillary will know how to spend our tax dollars better than we do....
Don't even get me started on the lack of debt management that caused the Dot.Com collapse. Gosh that only sucked how much "Imaginary Money" out of the Economy.
Sorry, I'm no Dubya fan either, but let's not pretend Bill pulled any miracle. Short term gain=long term pain...

Not possible, especially with what the current administration has done to the nations budget. We went from a surplus in 2000 (Thanks, Bill. Shame about the dress.) to over $9 TRILLION in the hole due to their shockingly abhorrent fiscal irresponsibility.
