I have this problem. I am shy and I am very picky about who I want to choose to go out with. I fully don't understand this whole "going out" thing anyway. I went out with this person three years ago and never thought about dating ever again. Now, three years later, I feel guilty about being single. I keep thinking long term instead of short term but it's hard for me to find that special individual. I can't find hardly anyone that is pure. Considering I have a year before I go off to college, should I start thinking about dating again?

Don't ever feel guilty about doing what feels like the right thing for you (unless it hurts someone else, of course).
You are still young, and you have plenty of time to date or meet that special someone.
Society puts such pressure on people, even people younger than you, to pair-up and be part pf a "couple". I have never understood it either. I was very shy in school too, and didn't have much of a dating life either.
My motherly ( I am 55 ) wisdom to you would be to just enjoy your life, your friends, work hard in school, and if someone special comes along, you'll know it. And don't let anybody make you feel you have to follow their idea of how you should live your life.

It's your choice, but maybe you should focus on school if you can't find anyone that doesn't want the same type of relationship as you.
