I don't believe that it would ever be free, but it would be affordable. Everyone would be covered and premiums would probably be deducted from ones paycheck . It shouldn't be a class privilege as it is now. It also shouldn't be dictated by lawyers or pharmaceutical companies. We should have the mindset of Europe where the emphasis is on preventative health care and not waiting for disease processes to erupt and then treat them. It is interesting to note that none of the Presidential candidates have come on strongly on this issue. We as Americans should make it a priority in the upcoming elections, otherwise
it will be status quo .

You think you want universal health care ? why? so you can wait 6 months for an MRI of your knee, 2 more months to see the doctor again, and then another year before you can have your surgery you need by Doctors who will then not be as qualified because all the the people who would have been the best surgeons have now gone into the business world because medicine doesn't pay them as much? Or would you just rather pay your deductible and get your surgery the same week by competent physicians ?
THESE ARE THE THINGS YOU NEED TO THINK ABOUT WHEN YOU START THINKING YOU WANT UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE

I served in the military and now have the ability to use the V.A. benefits.
Trust me when I say this: We don't WANT universal health care administered by the Government.
While those that actually perform the medical care are stellar, the bureaucracy and waiting time to obtain procedures is outrageous. I had to wait six months to be seen by a specialist for skin cancer.
And, if you miss appointments, the Government loves to push you around about it. You cannot have "life" happen to you and miss appointments. They'll come after you for it.
There is an old joke about once the Government getting their hooks in you, they won't let go.
The idea of a benevolent government run or subsidized health care system is a fallacy.

I suppose then the $$ would be there. I think health care should be a right. It is too bad things have gotten so far out of hand. 50 years ago, doctors drove the same kind of cars that automobile mechanics did. What has happened? Greed? I believe the government will have to intervene.

Healthcare? Maybe. Gas to get to work? doubtful.. Leaving now would leave a brief civil war, followed by militant Islamic control of Iraq, and most likely other countries as well..

Are you trying to imply that Americas health care problems are because of Iraq war?! If so then you are terribly wrong. I am not in favor of free cost to all, it should only be free for those who truly cannot afford it. and prices should be reasonable for those who can afford it.

i'm very taken aback at you! you place that way too mildly, enormously for you darlin! Skewed is plenty too basic, fuckedup is rather extra like it. I hate what is going on in this united states precise now. everybody is at each and every others' throats, that's terrible. we are tearing ourselves, actually, in a million/2. My basically approximately ex in-rules, who're knowledgeable, constructive, mushy people, or have been besides, are going around spouting birther nonsense and plan to vote for, GAG, Sarah Palin for something she needs to run for! AAAAAAUUUUUUGGGGGHHHHH! they're everywhere. I basically attempt to be smart, vote for the terrific applicants and legislations, be lively in my state and desire it blows over. i'm afraid for my toddlers and their toddlers regardless of the shown fact that, i will declare that. {{{{WLYB?}}}}

No. And who wants universal health care? Why do you thing Canadians are streaming across the border? Then can't access their "free" health care in Canada.
btw what does that question have to do with this category? Try the Poltics area.

No, because it is not government's job to care for your health, unless you are in the military, or retired. Government is also not supposed to feed you. It isn't supposed to provide you with a house.
I understand that the Paradise on Earth known as North Korea provides these services to its citizens.
Government's job is the protection of Life and Property (it doesn't seem to be doing a very good job of that, considering the abortion situation). We need to get off our backsides and learn to provide for ourselves.

We're able to now. We've always been able to have it. If we stayed in Iraq forever we could have it. Your getting it has nothing to with Iraq, and everything to do with rightwingers and their service to healthcare companies and insurance companies.
