Dear "sun will" - I agree with you. So please don't misunderstand this question. Think long think deep. One of the answers was a common expression from the most loving Christians of our times.

What can be said good about me?
Well the way you ask about me it seems as if you have been reading some evil propaganda on me and you assume I am evil and it is ironic to call me good.
I have news for you:
my good qualities:
1) I look great- don't you like my pointy tail?
2)I am clever, wonderful and really a nice 'guy'(though not exactly a guy)
3)I am sweet and kind(to my 'friends-of course)
4) I always give a helping hand
5)I am share my home with anyone who is willing to
6) I never lie

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.
Love and blessings

When ' temptations ' of " Satan" are experienced and we don't give in to those temptations that would ' block ' us... we then discover and grow more in the strength of our spirits, our souls. By not ' accepting ' those temptations...our ' free will ' is strengthened to the free will of choice to be of good hearts. We are allowed to actually experience making the choices of bright goodness...bright Light . . . By not giving in to low minded temptations...the brightness of the Light is reflected even brighter. By bringing up our inner strengths (God is within all of us )...our free will to not step into ill hearted temptations...then we are drawn even closer to the One (God)...our individual souls...that are in reality all united with the One (God)...shine even brighter. In a human sense...in simplistic words...we are better people for making brighter choices...choices that celebrate the heart to brighter, authentic happiness. Without the temptations of " Satan " we may not have had the opportunity to experience our free will as much. So..." Satan " is good for that.
Now...what is the answer to the riddle ? I'll be waiting to hear via my " watch list ". I love a good riddle...and this one is especially interesting.
.
~ ~ After posting this...I went back and read the other replies. What " Allman " replied...ditto for me. I think he and I basically are saying the same thing...." Allman " just said it in different and less words...which is something I can learn to do more...less words...I'm working on it. ~ Smiles ~ . . .

He promotes faith in God even against his will.
If people fear him, more people will convert to any religion to fight him. That leads to think that Satan won't try to get people for his cause by threatening, but rather trying to convincing them that he is really 'good' and God is crazy and cruel... and well... he surely has good ways on doing that since he is considered to be very wise (if he exists in reality or in our minds at all).

being an angel, he has an insatiable love for humanity
having fallen from grace he understands human failings
being cursed by god he understands unjust punishments
He became the darkness so that we may have light
I still believe in Satan's rights

1. According to the Bible, he is very beautiful. In fact, he was the most beautiful angel created. There is nothing in the Bible to lead us to believe this has changed.
2. According to the Bible, he fears God.

are you talking about before or after the fall?
there is nothing to say good about him now, but he was God's right hand man at one time before he fell

He recognized Jesus for what he was.
When God said he had to crawl on his belly forever he took it lying down.
He is persistent, he read the Bible too and knows there's hell to pay
