This personal experience happened to me. Here is my story.

On July 24, 2002, my maternal grandmother, Ann, passed away into the eternal light of God. She died as she had lived -- peaceful, loving and with much care of others. "Nana", as we all called her, was a sincere example of love, forgiveness and divine purity. For she was an ancient soul, living out the last of her incarnations on this Earth. Ancient souls seldom return to Earth. Their journey -- and destination -- is the eternal celestial framework of God.

Nana returned, one last time, on the evening of her passing (July 24). As my ex-fiance was talking on the telephone, I stepped outside and saw an extraordinary sight! An extremely large dog -- pure white, most likely an Alaskan Malamute/Nordic Wolf hybrid -- stood majestically beside some rocks, green grass and a small wooden fence.

It reared up slightly and looked at me, as if noticing my presence with a faint smile.

It had the most beautiful pair of blue eyes I had ever seen -- the color of blue only angels are said to possess. And the fur, pure and white, was flowing in the wind, as if gently pushed by God. I nodded to it briefly and then continued on my path.

However, the dog would have none of it, pinning its ears back while racing towards me. I was taken aback by this and stopped suddenly. But the beautiful dog did not bight me, as I would have expected from a stray. It merely, and gently, sniffed my left hand and then darted around the corner as swift as the wind could blow.

My heart racing, I turned the corner and looked around for the "white dog". I even stopped to ask a man checking his mail and he motioned me around another corner -- where he said the dog had gone. And so, I spent the better part of an hour looking for that mysterious white dog. But it was not to be found, not anywhere near or far.

The dog had simply vanished...

What was this? She loved dogs.

Probably. Such visions are a lot more common that you may realize. My great grandmother visited me after her death as well.

I am very sorry for your loss, that is a painful thing. This dream seems to have been part closure and part affirmation of hope. Whether we are 'visited' by departed loved ones or simply dream from imprinted memories and intuition in these dreams cannot be proven one way or another - how one accepts the thing is a matter of faith or belief. Such dreams are however real enough to those experiencing them - when they are consistent with the love and outlook of one we loved we know the content to be truly of the heart. I believe such dreams should be accepted as the gifts they clearly are to us. After a year's time it is normal for one to begin to open the mind and heart to closure - and this seems to be an opportune time for the kind of 'visit' you describe. On one hand - your beloved grandmother is saying 'it's OK - I'm here' and that it is OK to accept this worldly loss knowing she's in a better state, as we can best perceive it. On the other - she seems to be affirming that an event of great joy will come to be - and what better or more loving messenger could there be? Again, whether product of that which is spiritual or of the psyche matters little - it is a real message from the mysteries within us. Your family sounds very close. Your aunt may well have already been aware of a desire you may have to have a child - which does not mean she contrived this in the least - she is simply open to the message from within if that is so. The child would bring a joyous event - and in the manner of her dream would be forever connected to your grandmother's person and memory. That is a blessing. So now you find that you could well even deliver a child on your grandmother's birthday! Coincidence? Very possibly - but what a significant one if so. Take it as a message of joy whether it works out exactly that way or not - it is significant. Again - this dream - the messenger in it - the connectiveness your family seems to enjoy - all are blessings that must surely stem significantly from the love your grandmother inspired in her life here, and even now. Consider these things and how they may fit. You have at the very least an affirmation of the love your grandmother left to you all, and the anticipation of joys to come which will always be tied to your love for her. All the best to you, perhaps this dream will come true.

There is this verse in the bible from Hebrews 13 that says to be not forgetful of who you entertain, that they may be angels unawares. So yes this dog could have been an angel

Some Native Americans believe that sometimes your spirit animal can visit you in forms of beasts or dreams. It could be whatever you think it could be honestly.

No. When people die, their hearts stop beating and their lungs stop working. Without any food, their cells begin to die. Without the ability to fight them off, the bacteria that already live in your body begin to feast on it. This is called decomposition. And this is what happened to your Nana.

Then again I could be wrong. Is this your grandma?

Well...there's no solid proof for or against it.

Life is what you make of it. Or...after-life. It's possible.
