I have unshelled hazelnuts with the skin. After peeling, how can I ground them for a dessert recipe? Do I use a chopper or a grinder?

Depends on the recipe. If you want them fine (like flour) use a grinder. If you want them as a topping, use a chopper.

If the recipe calls for ground hazelnuts, use a grinder. Otherwise, think about the texture - a chopper will produce little grains where a grinder will produce a more floury substance.

Whoops, this answer is a bit repetitive, sorry!

Depends upon how fine you want them. For superfine, use a food processor.

For med. chop, put them in a zipper bag and pound w/ a meat mallet, wine bottle or orther flat-bottomed heavy utensil.

For coarse chop, chop on a cutting board w/ Chef's knife.

Use a grinder. You can get them as large or as fine as you want.

Food processor w/ intermittent pulses = easiest.

Chopper - rough texture.

Grinder - risk of ending up w/ paste.

If you have a blender, use it (liquefy setting)

But I use to do it with a rolling pin. Works great !

Good luck
