Should schools continue to use property taxes to fund schools or should there be a new tax?

Like it or not, income taxes are the fairest taxes of all. They're progressive in that the take into account the taxpayer's ability to pay.

Property taxes are semi-progressive in that in your productive years the ability to pay is loosely coupled to the tax but when you retire on a fixed income they become regressive.

Sales taxes are the worst of the lot and hit the poor far more heavily than the wealthy. If I could ban one type of tax forever, it would be sales taxes at least on essential goods and services -- food, clothing, etc.
