the fafsa doesn't give me enough money to live off of for college. i have huge medical bills and need more money so i can survive.

i thought about work, but there are no jobs around, and the only jobs open are not college friendly and conflict with my college schedule.

thanks.

Did you get the financial aid report from the school yet? There might still be hope in getting more than what the EFC said if you included the medical related items in the attachment. If you have not done this, I recommend filing an amended FAFSA form which can be done. If the school financial aid letter comes back with less, I recommend talking to the financial aid office and bring a copy of your monthly medical bills. Another idea for a job might be working on campus in a federal work study program. However, I will list some free places where you can locate more money for college but you need to start searching now because scholarship deadlines are fast approaching.

First, the college's financial aid office and website has a list of private scholarships offered from outside organizations and companies. Sometimes a college major's website will list scholarships, too.

Second, the public library has a book listing scholarships with some not even listed on the web.

Third, the high school guidance office has a list of local scholarships and state scholarships & grants.

Finally, I recommend joining several free membership scholarship search websites, but the best I have located is Scholarship Experts since they have a very thorough and lengthy survey to complete compared to Fastweb. There are scholarships for a variety of things including ethnicity, clubs, hobbies, and even wearing duct tape to the high school prom. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search based on information entered onto a form on the website.

Good luck!

Additional Notes: I recommend approaching the financial aid office and telling them about the situation. They might be able to help you. However, bring proof of your medical condition and the bills with you.

There are oftentimes work study programs. If you have somebody that could cosign for you then you may be able to get alternative student loans, but these are usually at higher interest rates than federal student loans. If at all possible though I would just keep looking for a job. There has to be some job out there (even if it is something you don't really want to do) that you only have to work nights (or whenever you aren't at school). There are jobs around, you just have to look for them. Look in the paper, sign up on career builders, monster.com, hot jobs.

You are not looking for more money for college you are looking to cover other expenses besides school. Ask your financial aid office if it is even possible to get as much financial aid as you are looking for because there is a limit. You can look for workstudy positions at school because those are always college friendly or the employement office may know jobs you could apply for.

you should look in to work study. the school gives you a job and pays you and since its campus work they have to work around your schudule. you could work in the library, or food service they let you pick.

you also might look in the a private loan, from a bank.

first you have to get a job that pays well. instead of spending it all, you should save it and hide it (somewhere where you'll remember it) so you can resist temptation.
