The gnostic texts were written over 200 years after the crucifiction, so most are handed down, not very accurate stories by people who'd never met any of the disciples or even anyone that knew them. On the other hand, I sure wish they had included the Book of Enoch, its fast becoming one of my faves, but it was written long before the NT. I think they were afraid all the talk of angels would frighten people, like the cherubim, as they aren't the pretty little flying babies people seem to think they are. I honestly think they would have left out Revelation if not for the warning in the last paragraph.

They didn't make the final cut because the majority of the churches did not consider them to be inspired by God, and many of them were of questioable authorship. The gnostic gospels were rejected because they don't line up with what Jesus taught.

There are only four gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke , and John. If you are speaking about other books of the New Testament, they are available for reading

There's a scripture that says that to print all the stories related to God would be too great to put in a book, so I don't really think anything of them. I would have to critique each one and research to figure out if it is right, if I ever have that much extra time maybe.

Beginning in the 2nd century the church did not like the direction that Christianity was taking. They were losing control.

The church declared the gnostic gospels to be heresy for that reason. That lie is still believed to this day. Sad isn't it!

I've read several and they all just seem to be matter of fact stuff, irrelevant historically or theologically. ok, maybe eve really stood in the river to try to pay off her sin, but if that's missing from the bible, I'm sure I'll get the message somewhere else.

I'm not in the habit off conversing with Christians, so I don't know.

The Bible is an amazing book. When you look at the Bible and you look at the life of Jesus they are strangely similar.
