Actually, here is a link to an article written by a doctor describing Christ's crucifixion from a medical standpoint.

The Japanese used crucifixion until recently. In some middle eastern countries non-lethal crucifixion is still used as a punishment. I fail to see the significance of Jesus' suffering when the Romans crucified more than 70,000 Jews during that period.
A lot of people have suffered a lot more than Jesus could have ever imagined. My guess is that being burned at the stake in the name of Jesus is probably more painful than crucifixion. And the Catholic Church's apologetic claim that most people were mercifully suffocated by lack of oxygen before the flames ever touched them is BS.

This and other tortures are nothing new. Man has done cruel and inhuman things to his fellow man for centuries. The Inquisition was more cruel and more grueling to people than the Romans ever were to Christ.
Even today our government condones torture in the name of "Freedom." but I digress.
In 1974, artist Chris Burden had himself crucified to a VW Beetle.
I imagine it was painful.

It's so amazing that God chose this period in history for His Son to die such a horrific death. During this time, the Romans crucified people on crosses. God obviously chose this period in history to show us how much He loved us that He would give up His son to a grueling torturous death so that we might live a most wonderful life in eternity! We all complain how things are unfair, well how fair was this to Jesus who was God IN THE FLESH. How fair was as it for Jesus to die this horrific gruesome death for OUR sins? I'm grateful for this unfairness as I could not have gone thru the whipping, the crown piercing my skull, and the gasping for air while hanging etc. Jesus did it all for you and for me so that we didn't even have 1 whipping for our sins. How UNFAIR to Him, but in God's mercy for us, how grateful we are. JESUS LIVES forevermore so we can also. Praise The Lord on this Glorious Resurrection Sunday!.

It wasn't just the crucifixion. Just think about how they treated him before it, beating him repeatedly about the head with a piece of wood, his back ripped to shreds with leather and pieces of bone, the humiliation of being publicly stripped of his clothing, mocking and jeering and a crown of 3 inch thorns crushed into his battered skull. But he endured it all so that me and you could be set free from the power of death and hell. Praise him.

Yes reading documents about the exacting effects of being hung on a cross really brings a new meaning to the Christians faith/beliefs. It is something I would not at anytime wish to be forced into.

Yes and in addition to all that we know that Jesus also carried the weight of the sins of the world; past, present and future...
All that for us so that we might not have to die in our sins, if only we would believe according to John 3:16.
What a merciful and loving God to have made provision for us in our pitiful and fallen state. I love Him, but not nearly as much as He has first loved me (And all of us) for that matter.
I pray that all would come to know the Glory of the cross and even more the Glory of the resurrection three days later! ~Amen

Only you can decide in whose hands you place your future. I watched the Passion of the Christ and it turned my stomach to realize that people back then did this routinely. And our prisoners are mad because they want hookers.

No, I do not have a morbid curiosity, so I have never wondered about "being CRUCIFIED on a cross." I do not worship any death cults either. It does make me wonder, if I were religious, and when I died, would I be disappointed that there were no god?
