How hard it is to you to understand that we Christians really want to spend eternity with our God who we love? We want to spend time with Him here and after.

This was for the person who wanted to challenge me in earlier question. I really really want to be in heaven for it is GOOD. I respect your choice. I just do not understand why someone does not want to go to heaven. But is not it a good thing that you do not have to be in heaven if you do not want to. Your choice. And who fear hell, it is for a good reason. You cannot really blame them, can you. I do not have to fear it because I choose heaven. : )

Tell me your thoughts. : )

Those who believe that Christians who believe in God just to escape hell have no background in the faith and show their ignorance every time they say that.

There are some Christians who preach that we need to be in constant fear of God and hell and should approach God fearfully and with repentance always. (I know they exist, I have one of their disgusting books - one has a son and when the son asked to know Jesus the father made him so fearful and afraid of God that he wept in fear of going to hell. Then his father told him about Jesus!)

Personally I believe there is no fear in love. It is not possible for the two to coexist.

This was something that I explained over and over again when I was a Christian and something my husband tries to explain to people on a daily basis. You follow God/Jesus out of love - because you love God with all your heart. You desire to do God's will, to serve God - and you repent for your sins out of love for God. Becuase you know you have wronged God and out of your love you desire to make it right. To do right. And God repays you by filling you with his love.

It has nothing to do with trying to escape hell. Those that enter the church for that reason are not really Christian. You can not convert to a religion truly out of fear. You do not have faith - that has been replaced with fear.

Though I doubt most who believe Christians are trying to escape hell well never understand this concept.

I think we all really know that we have to choose one or the other, there is no in between. And the fear to be some where else that we have never been is natural. There are those who choose to think that when we die, thats it, we are just dead. I choose to believe other wise. Why would God make such beautiful things that mean something to us now, only to have everything end completely for nothing? We would go insane if all that he gave us, like our children, were not going to be with us ever again. In heaven, we will be together again. Forever. But it's our choice to make and i'd make it before it's too late.

ok ok it's just that when you speak of these magical all knowing gods and perfect afterlives and such, it just seems too imaginary. If there was some way that you could prove that there really was a perfect place like heaven then i would be praising the god with the correct afterlife. I'm not trying to be mean or anything but the truth is that it just sounds like you have some sort of imaginary friend or something.

...but some things are real whether you believe in them or not, n'est pas?

personally, I think Hell may be something like what is described in Dante's "Inferno". Nine concentric circles with each ones population decided by the level of sin they committed on Earth.

Abandon All Hope Ye Who Enter Here...

Where did Adam and Eve live? Where were they created? Where would Adam and Eve be if they had never disobeyed? What is the only reason they died? Do some people go to heaven? Do all people go to heaven? Who decides?

I had fear of Hell until I was saved. I now have no fear, as I am going to Heaven. I want to spend eternity with my Lord.

Yes, I will choose heaven. I choose to be in the presence of love. God is unconditional love, and to be separated from God is to be separated from love. Hell is not so much a place as a state; it is the state of separation from God. Imagine spending eternity without hope, filled with loneliness, despair and anguish? God loves you and wants to be with you. He did give you free will to choose whether or not to love him back. Love is only true love when it is given willingly. God isn't asking you to be a coward, quite the contrary. Was God being a coward when he took human form and willingly permitted himself to be despised, tortured, and killed? He did this for us, to erase the stain of sin from our souls. There is no greater love than to give ones life for another.

I'll tell you why I don't want to go to heaven - I don't care to spend eternity surrounded by people like you. If heaven is filled with people like you, I will gladly go to hell. It's sure to be a lot more fun and "intelligent" than heaven.

I would like to go to heaven too. But if I have to do something immoral to get there, I will have no part of it. It's more important to me to be a good person, than to get reward.
