Hamburger, 1 piece of white bread torn up into tiny pieces (this absords some of the fat from the beef so the burgers do not turn out dry), worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, a dash of garlic powder
serve with assorted toppings, cheese, bacon, mayo, mustard, ketchup, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, toppings are only limited to your imagination. When we grill them, we put the toppings out like a mini buffet and let everyone pic and fix their own.
We also have toasted or steamed buns, often times putting a big bowl of chips, especially for an outdoor event.

My husband loves Southwestern Burgers and Mushroom Burgers so I do a little of this:

In the meat I always put Liptons Onion Soup for seasoning
I take a cooked pattie,Jalepeno Pepper Jack cheese and Barbecue sauce on the bottom of the bread, the Fried Onions , Bacon , and fried mushrooms. He loves it!!!!!
Normally we have a salad, french fries or Mozzerella stix with the Hamburgers. Baked Potatoe.

Mmm - this is all making me hungry! I like to put basil and oregano in hamburgers, and top them with just a little pizza sauce and a slice of mozzarella, with chips or fries on the side. This is a good question and some very inspiring answers :)

When I make hamburgers for a special occasion...

One pound of ground sirloin, half of a pound of italian pork sausage (no casing), half of a pound of crumbled blue cheese, and sauteed onions. Mash it all together and form into decent sized patties, cook to desired doneness. I make my own "potato buns" using potatoes that have been baked, peeled, and mashed with chicken broth, pepper, and garlic. A few spoons of that on a baking sheet bakes into a nice puffy bun for my burgers. Then I add more sauteed onions and mushrooms and a few rings of raw red onion.

Serve with a fluffy baked potato and a crisp green salad.
