Just wondering if overweight people will burn calories at a faster rate than average people. For example, if an average person burns 200 calories on an hour jog....will an overweight person burn more, because they use more energy? If not, why does it appear that overweight people lose weight more easily than average people?

Actually, you're right. Over weight people usually have a faster metabolism rate than skinny people. If you excercised the same amount as someone skinnier, you would burn off more.

Overweight people carry a larger load than others. Just based on you walking with that excess weight, you burn more calories.
That's why people say crash diets don't work. You lose the weight, and lose your high calorie burn, and eat the same stuff as before, effectively bringing you right back up.

Therefore, yes, overweight people lose weight faster, and better.. it's just a matter of consistancy and dedication.

Overweight people (with high body fat %s) burn more while working out. This makes you think that being overweight makes it easy to lose weight, but not really.

If 2 people weight the same, but one has 10% body fat and the other has 30% body fat, while they're sitting and watching tv, sleeping, or online, the 10% b.f. person would burn more calories at rest than the 30% b.f. person.
