Otherwise, Motobecane is a good brand as is Fuji....
Honestly, I do a search for bike shops in your area in google or yahoo. I just recently decided to buy a bike and finding the local shops and visiting and speaking with them helped me more than any website I visited.
Oh... and Amazon actually have some good bikes on their site. I couldn't believe it either. You may also want to try craigslist.com.
