This often means that you are mixing up the component video connections with the composite video connection. Component video jacks come in threes, and they're usually red, green and blue. A composite video jack is a single jack and is usually yellow. However, it's often placed next to the audio jacks, which are red and white. You need make sure you're using the same jacks on both the DVD player and the TV.

The Demagnetizer partly engaged.....that Bullseye pattern appears when that happens..... If it isn't broken, the next time you turn it on in the morning, it should be gone....if not, then your Thermistor is bad, or has bad solder connections, or the RELAY's contactors are frozen together...... Unplug the demagnetizer, if the bullseye disappears you have a STUCK relay...... Bad solder connections and a Bad Thermistor are Visually OBVIOUS..... What's the Demagnetizer look like? Well, FIRST it's attached AROUND the picture tube and generally looks like it is wrapped in electrical tape....it has two wires going to the mains area with a plug on the end, that's where you unplug it.... The relay and the thermistor and the bad connections are located REAL CLOSE to where it plugs into the board, You should see some Rectangular boxes OR the Thermistor may look like a silvery or Reddish Disc..... You can TAP the relay gently with the plastic end of a screwdriver, which will RELEASE the contactors, but since they arced together.....they will continue to re-Arc together. So replace it if it is Stuck.....

Make sure they are both switched to channel 3 or that the TV is on the correct channel. Some have a channel just for DVDs.Good luck.If all attempts fail it could be a bad coax cable.

If you have a tv/av button try pressing it more than once. The dvd player may play properly on av2 or av3.

Need some more detail. What kind of TV? Is it new or old? Which inputs are you using -- composite, component, S-Video, HDMI? Or are you using an RF modulator (antenna) connection?
