Over 500 eye witnesses saw Jesus after his crucifixion and death. A Roman Centurian soldier verified His death and His side was pierced instead of His legs being broken, because He was already dead on the cross. Negligence of duty back in the Roman period was punishable by death. Jesus was dead on the cross. The Centurian soldier made no mistake like some people would like to think that Jesus swooned. Not only was Jesus seen after the crucifixion but dead saints were seen walking in Jerusalem. Jesus said He would come back to life after 3 days and He did. The burial tomb of Jesus was surrounded by 16 Roman soldiers and the stone tomb door was sealed with wax and thread to insure that it was not tampered with but it was rolled back and Jesus was gone. His burial garments were neatly left in the tomb.

The followers of Jesus were scared to death. Jesus had just been crucified and they didn't know but what they would be the next ones crucified. They thought Jesus was gone for good and they felt foolish. Peter knew that he had rejected Jesus and three times he had denied Jesus. Peter felt like he was a total failure and he was confused about what was coming next. They were told so much by Jesus that I believe they were seriously doubting Him until they saw Him alive and that the grave could not hold Him. A risen Jesus was proof that Jesus was who He said He was.

just to describe from a Catholic attitude: the Rapture is a protestant invention introduced approximately because of the fact protestants have not got the Mass. it fairly is sweet, the Mass. The e book of Revelation (or The Apocalypse) is a e book based on the Mass and is in straight forward terms approximately impossible to understand with out information the Catholic liturgy. Revelation explains that the liturgy we've a good time in Mass is an fairly participation contained interior the Heavenly Liturgy it fairly is being celebrated in any know situations (and would desire to be in Heaven consistently). So in case you don't understand the Mass, you have a bent to substantiate the e book of Revelation as in straight forward terms a tough rationalization of the top of time. and exciting human concepts like the Rapture are invented to describe it. it fairly is substantial to reveal screen that the Rapture is typically a twentieth century concept, with little to no precedent for the belief. At this ingredient in time there are diverse ameliorations of the belief contained interior the rapture: pre-millennial, positioned up-millennial, even people who're rather mid-millennial. So what's the fact? Jesus Christ will come on the top of time and separate the wheat from the chaff, taking the wheat to heaven. people who have not executed holiness, yet are no longer in mortal sin, could be perfected by potential of way of purgatory. Pray that by potential of way of the Sacraments, all individuals replace into wheat for Jesus.

The church makes billions of dollars.

And to answer an early argument. Why would the people fighting the empire in Star Wars die for a lie? The Force must be true
Not to mention the thousands eye witnesses who saw Luke Skywalker receive a medal. Don't say it never happened I saw it in a movie.

The stories of Christ rising from the dead are allegorical in nature. The Apostles realized that even though Jesus was physically dead, He truly lives. This realization came three days after His death, when the Body of Christ (i.e. the Church, the believers) were revived from their spiritual death and was resurrected to new life. They recorded the stories about Jesus as symbols to help people understand the true miracle of the Resurrection. There is no such thing as a physical resurrection, for, as Paul said, "Flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God".

Since it was largely a political movement, yes.

Since politics and religion were indistinguishable in those days, yes.

Since they eventually gained control of Rome, yes.

The four accounts in the Gospels don't add up. They all start with the same premise, but the authors are clearly ad libbing on their own.

Christians love to claim that it's like four different people at the scene of an event who give four different accounts.

The Gospels are more like four teenagers caught vandalizing something and they are separated by the detectives before they can get their stories straight.

By the way, would Muslims die for beliefs you consider false? Would they even do it for political reasons?

You are conveniently forgetting that they were at war with Rome. It's comical how Christians create a fictitious scenario where all was at peace in Judea under Rome until a miracle happened. You people never stop fibbing. do you? They were AT WAR!

Their lies gained converts, even many who were not only willing to die, but eager about it.

See anything on the news lately from that region of the world that might shed some light in your dark, empty little heads as to what was really going on behind your fairy tales?

If he didn't rise from the dead, he would be just an ordinary human man. Not the son of God. The whole Christian religion would collapse.

The Muslims were smarter - their Mohamed was an ordinary human man, so they are in a stronger position.

Sure, the disciples, which died pretty horrible, torturous deaths, all went to their deaths proclaiming He arose. Pretty lame thing to do for a lie, don't you think? Now me personally, I woudn't go thru torture for a lie, probably wouldn't make it very far for the truth even, I'm a bit whimpy about pain, but these guys must have all been completely insane, or telling the truth.
