I pray for those in Purgatory, but not those in Hell or Limbo. The souls in Hell have chosen to reject God and are beyond salvation, so our prayers will not mitigate their suffering or produce positive benefits for them.
The concept of Limbo is being questioned now by the Church. *If* Limbo exists, the souls there are given as much grace and enjoyment as is possible without actually receiving the Beatific Vision. They are in no need of our prayers.
The souls in Purgatory are saved but being cleansed of imperfections that were not dealt with during their lives. Our prayers are of great benefit to them, according to revelations given to saints such as Blessed Alan and St. Bridget of Sweden.
A blessed Resurrection Day to you, too, my friend!

Bless your loving heart, But, I am so sorry that you have been mislead as I too used to be. I know what religion you belong to and no need of mentioning it as I will not bash a religion such as yours who does believe in the Risen Christ and the Salvation of Christ which is the heart of all of us christians. I was raised in your religion, and until I, myself read the Bible, went along with these ideas which are traditional in your religion. Please read this and consider it truth as you read the Bible and discern on your own as I did and this is why I say they do not exist. Also, once we die, we go to heaven or hell period. We cannot be prayed out of anywhere, our destiny is final at death! TODAY is the day of Salvation, not after someone on earth has prayed you into heaven after going to hell. Read in Luke about the Rich man and Lazarus. The rich man knew his fate was final. He didn't beg Abraham for himself for this reason. He begged Abraham for his brothers still alive on earth so they wouldn't end up in the place he was. This place he was in is called Sheol (hebrew in the Old Testament) and Hades (Greek in the New Testament). Before Christ died and made a way for us to go straight to sinless heaven, people went to Sheol which had 2 compartments. One for the saved and the other for the unsaved. Lazarus and Abraham was on the saved side and the rich man on the unsaved side. So, when you die, your choice on earth determines God's final decision. Pray for the living, not the dead. God gave us all a lifetime to make our choice... in His Mercy!! Happy Easter to you too!!

Sure, and I pray for the souls at the North Pole too. Hopefully Santa will be merciful to grace them with everlasting presents.

The Pope is the word of God on Earth. So if he says that there is a purgatory, even if it isn't in the Bible, there is a purgatory now.
But no, no i don't.
Maybe I should.
Christians are all crazy...

Where do you get off presuming what souls are in purgatory or not. I don't even believe in purgatory. I think praying for all the altar boys who have been molested and raped by priests are the one who need our prayers as well as eternal damnation.

I don't believe in Purgatory and people in hell apparently deserve to be there and are beyond my prayer and His mercy. He does not damn people, they damn themselves by not choosing Him. It was their decision. Perhaps your prayer would be better spent on people still here and struggling. Happy Easter to you too.

Purgatory does not exist.
Neither does limbo.
They are inventions of the Catholic church.
There is no Bible base for those ideas.
As respects hell, everybody goes there because hell is the grave ....6 feet under.
No fire. No torment .....just sleep.

What's that? How can you pray for dead or sleeping souls? What they will get is reserved after resurrecting. Death is the opposite of life.
