Did he not know he was the son of God, and what he stood to inherit...Lets get real, If someone offered you a million dollars to cut off a finger, wouldnt you do it..?

What I am getting at is...He performed miracles, he had proof..So, what kind of leap of faith was it for him? It wasnt..

If I told you that I would give you 10 million dollars to jump off a bridge, and you had a pretty good Idea you would only break a leg....Dont you think you would do it...?

I think the faith in the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ is the overall crippling part of this religion..Come on what a joke...

Ok, perhaps I shouldnt put the money comparison...Maybe this would be easier...

A man comes across a burning building. He is told that there is a child in the building and only he can save that child..

Now he has never performed miracles, he does not know with out a doubt there is a heaven..He has a family and a good life..

But, yet, he decides to go in the building and save the child...Wouldnt that be more of a Sacrifice than Jesus...After all, jesus knew who he was, he knew what He had to gain..He knew all this with out a shadow of a doubt...

Come on people, let down your gaurd and actually have some common senses about it...There is no such thing as a selfless act, if you stand to gain as he did...His life here wasnt that good...Dont you think He would have rather gone to heaven...Catch a clue people...Open some eyes...

I think that Jesus was a cult leader who was executed and decided to turn that execution into martyrdom to advance his own cause. He didn't perform any miracles, he was not the son of God. He was either lying or mistaken, and that is why he was crucified. That so many people worship someone who wasn't much more than a rabble-rouser is a mystery to me.

Everything Jesus did was by faith; the same faith we have to exercise. Your example about cutting off the finger for a million; that takes faith also, that you would get the million. It takes faith to believe in God, and it takes faith to disbelieve in God. We all live by faith every day. You get in your car and drive to work, that takes faith to believe you will make it.

What exactly are you looking for here?

I wouldn't take a million to cut off my finger, and I wouldn't jump off a bridge for you either.

Jesus became the perfect sacrifice because He knew that there could be no reconciliation between man and God without it - end of story

blessings :)

i do no longer purchase the Jesus is a god element. He replaced into helped by potential of, even empowered by potential of the spirit. "Embodied" is a sturdy be conscious yet he replaced into no longer THE spirit. It replaced right into a sacrifice because of the fact as someone he knew the end result and did it any way. because of the fact he believed in GOD his spirit replaced into going to be positive regardless. He nevertheless had to bypass via the discomfort so as that others could see. very corresponding to the common person's existence. The discomfort is outweighed by potential of the end result. optimistically to the earnings of somebody else.

do my spin. Jesus was a Jewish mystic,did mystical practices such as concentrated prayer,contemplation,meditation. so he experienced his oneness with the Divine Mystery.he was capable of seeing the future(among other powers) and could see his impending death and he just Surrendered to what was going to happen. that's his message,surrender to what's happening, you're not in charge./also, this is very common for mystics from all religions.they frequently know when they are going to die and totally accept it

Yes it was. Sin is never going to be separating you from God in eternity. Jesus took care of that. If you believe in it, and you accept this gift, you are going to be saved. But you have a free will, and with all kind of choices here, it can be interesting.

Offer is for you too, but you do not have to take it. : )

Of course it was a true sacrifice. It was the ultimate sacrifice. It was an infinite sacrifice in the sense that to be forgiven all one needs to do is repent. There is no necessity for another sacrifice since this sacrifice was done by the God of heaven and earth. This was the final sacrifice for all of mankind. Through this infinite Atonement we can be resurrected and made clean to enter the presence of our Heavenly Father and live forever with our families.

Jesus Christ suffered so much, by taking our sins upon himself that blood oozed from His every pore. He experienced all of our infirmities, sicknesses, and pains...let alone all of our sins. The pain was so terrible that He almost chickened out! "Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me".... But He continued in faith, "Nevertheless not my will, but thine be done!" He drank the dregs of a bitter cup and suffered beyond our finite comprehension. He lived as the 3 year old Suzie who was molested and murdered. He experienced the pains of the alcoholic. He felt your pain as well. All of it. He knows you inside and out. He knows how to succor you in time of need. He suffered for all that He would be in all and through all the light of life. He suffered for us that his bowels would be full of mercy and He would know how to succor us according to our infirmities.

Yes, it was and you missed the entire point, that it was God's redemptive plan to reconcile his sinful creation back to fellowship with Him.

This is the grace of God, that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound;

That saved a wretch like me;

I once was lost, but now I'm found;

Was blind, but now I see.

I think the real sacrifice is that he came back.
Think about it, his fan club turned on him and his friends abandoned him in his time of need. Any normal person would have looked back at the people and said, "Screw them!"
But he did come back, and not to chew them out either, but to say "Peace be with you."
I would say he bit the bullet at that time.

He still had to endure the incredible suffering and torture of the cross.

I doubt if you could even come close to enduring such pain no matter what the reward...

Go see the movie, 'the Passion". Maybe you wil get it.....maybe.
