You should call local vets and see if they can arrange payment plans. Our dog had heart worm and the total cost to cure him was around 350 dollars. If you wait too long his heart will not be able to pump enough blood to keep his other functions going. It already sounds like his lungs have been affected.

The only way to know if your dog has heartworms or not is to take him to the vet for a heartworm test. Also the symptoms you describe aren't just symptoms of heartworms they can be symptoms of several other things as well some of which are very serious.
I would NOT use any so called "natural" heartworm remedy!!! Doing so could prove very dangerous even fatal to your dog.

You can NOT get heartworm preventative with out a current heartworm test and a prescription from your vet.

Not trying to be harsh but.....Your dog needs proper medical care and as his owner it is YOUR responsability to see that he gets it. Not having money is NOT considered an excuse for not seeking appropriate vet care by many states.

Your dog NEEDS vet care, please be responsible and see that he gets it.

Roundworms can also cause the same symptoms. However, if he has not been on any Heartworm Prevention meds, it could be either one.

I would call the vet and ask if there is any way you can make payment arrangement for both a heartworm test and a fecal float (for intestinal worms), and possible treatment. Otherwise what are you going to do, just let him lay there and die from "something""???

Please don't get mad at me for saying this. I know you love your pet. However, he is really suffering. Heart worm is a
brutal, painful infestation for a dog. Untreated by a vet,
he will slowly die. The natural remedys available online do
not work. (I learned that from experience.)
Sometimes if heartworm is very advanced a vet can not save the animal.
I suggest if you really love that animal, give him up to a local shelter to hopefully obtain vet care before its too late or worse case scenario be put out of his misery.

Call your local vet, explain your situation and they may be able to help. The initial cost may be a little high but the monthly preventaion is not expensive at all. And at our last visit to the vet, I asked about that exact thing, how much prevention would help and keep my dog protected. I was told 100% prevention if you give it regularly.

If you have the dog, you really need to take care of it. Otherwise call your local shelter or take the dog there. They can get the dog to the vet and get it taken care of. Animals are expensive and although you love your animal you must care for them no matter the cost...If you can't afford it you much get the animal help elsewhere.

I don't know where you live, but here in Los Angeles, there is a place called the "Downtown Dog Rescue." They help with really low cost, and sometimes free, pet care. If you don't live in LA, check with your local shelters...they usually have vets on staff who will charge less than a private practice vet. Good luck!

in truth. in case you do not get your dogs the tratment he desires it is going to die. attempt calling round to different vets and attempt o get a more suitable powerful fee. attempt contacting the interior reach animal shelters and see in the journey that they could help you out. that's too overdue for customary heartworm pills. The pills are you preclude infestation. It does no longer some thing if the animal allready has the worms. in case you extremely won't be able to locate the money for to get the treatment perhaps you are able to provide the dogs to someone who can help it. i comprehend it sounds terrible to provide your dogs away. yet Your dogs is suffering and that's more suitable merciless to allow him go by potential of it.

Can you borrow the money?

Some emergency vets allow you to make monthy payments, so if you can find one around your house that would be great.

If you can't do either of those, then I'm sorry to say this but either put him down or give him to someone who has the money already. The poor dog shouldn't have to live like this.

Take him to the vet, talk to the vet about a payment plan or get a loan from the bank to pay the vet.
