You may want to check with local authorities first as burning of tires is illegal in many areas due to EPA guidelines. As for a good fire starter, diesel works well. Be careful of styrofoam as it can blow away and get a fire started in an unexpected area.

Ignoring the CO2, etc. you are poisoning yourself and your family when you do this. The particulate emissions and other chemicals released are harmful to your lungs. The used motor oil contains lead and other metals, which you will breath in when burned. The metals will settle on nearby soils, contaminating any local crops.
