My son wants to go there and see fighters but I don't know how close you can get to runways. And do they have a museum or visitor's center?

I have only been to the base once and when i was there I could see the fighters very clearly even before I got there. I dont know if they have some sort of museum or something but, I think it is possible to get a vistor's pass.

From the Shaw website: http://www.shaw.af.mil/

How can I arrange a tour of Shaw Air Force Base?

Shaw Air Force Base provides tours of our facilities during weekdays, and on special circumstances on weekends. Tours require at least 10 people and visitors must be at least 12 years old. Tours are tailored to the needs of the group. To arrange a tour, call 803-895-2029/19.

Also, there SHOULD be an airshow this year if other mission requirements allow.

watching airplane is against the rules of the AOA people doing that use that 4 plans so they make it hard for pepole 2 see runways 4 the reason so if you plan on watchin airplan land and take off you could expext some police and AOA 2 SHOW UP
