The medicine should be safe to take, but I doubt it will work as well. To be sure, go ahead and try taking the usual dosage, but be prepared for it to not work. If it doesn't, try Zyrtec or some other over-the-counter med. They may not work as well as a prescription, but they'll help a bit.

Recently expired medications will not harm you, the only side effect might be that the medications are not as potent as they were initially.

There aren't' any side effects from taking expired medication. It does however loose its potency and become less effective.
