I have it too, and it is the pits.
Take Ibuprofen to reduce the swelling and inflammation. Follow the label instructions. I had to take 2 Excedrin and 2 Ibuprofen every 4 hours for killing pain , inflammation and swelling. I'm sure it is not good for your liver to take so much. But I could barely walk. I really had no choice.
You can put the icy gel packs on them. If they are VERY bad, I used a steel hinged knee brace on my worst one and it did a great job of relieving the pain. The way it goes on it takes your body weight off of the joint and helps a lot.
If none of these help speak to your Doctor about a cortisone shot and a short round of Prednizone. I had good success with that. My knees are extremely good , then it moved to my wrists the next year, so I did the prednizone again for 10 days
now it has moved to my low back and a 6 inch section between my shoulder blades in my spine.
Last October I put myself on a huge vitamin supplement program. I take almost a to z. It has helped a lot. I am not great but I am enormously better than I was 2 years ago.
Of course I do take Hydrocodone 1 to 3 times a day.
Good Luck.

First avoid pain killers.
If you are overweight down it immediately.
Use of hot mud bandages for 30 mins twice a day will help. Use hill soil preferably.
Acupuncture is the best treatment for pains, try it.
