What I want to know is whenever someone mentions "illegal immigrants," why do the Mexicans automatically assume the fingers are being pointed at them?
People from all around the world come here illegally, not just the Mexicans. One thing I will mention all the illegals have in common is wanting a better life. However, there is a right way and wrong way to go about gaining entry into this country.
Before anyone suggests I don't know what I'm talking about, I absolutely do. My mother came here months before the fall of Saigon. She gained entry through the appropriate channels if you will. In the mid 80s we filed sponsorship papers to bring my grandmother and 4 aunts over from a communist country....12 years later they arrived. But we did it legally and they arrived here legally and although entitled to welfare benefits--they didn't even bother to apply. And now all of my aunts are U.S. citizens whereas they were once citizens of a communist government. So if you can get out of a communist country, how much harder (or easier) could it be getting out of Mexico with the correct paperwork in hand????
I've spoken to many friends who are immigrants from other countries and arrived here legally and they all have the same thing to say about the illegal protests going on....they're actually quite p-o'd about it because the illegals are assuming just because they are on this soil they are automatically entitled to certain rights, and not only that, the argument is "We got here legally, they can too, so why don't they."

Former Mexican President Fox has preached to his "followers" that the Southwestern United States belongs to Mexico and that the United States stole it from the people of Mexico. They believe that if enough of them come here they will run the Americans out of the Southwest and take it back for Mexico. It is an unarmed invasion. The money earned by Mexicans working an America is being sent back to Mexico, making the United States the 3rd largest source of income for Mexico.
That is not to say that there are not decent, hard working people there who just want a better life. But nothing under NAFTA is making their lives in Mexico better. It's making ours worse here. I have no problem with anyone who comes to this country legally, works hard, pays taxes, and assimilates to our culture.

i think the mexican americans are leaving because half their relatives are illegals and live with them. how many mexicans can live in a 2 bedroom house, 10-15 ? I am happy arizona is doing this, hopefully all the states will follow. To say" well I am mexican american and I am not going to be checked for identification because of my race I am leaving" is bull, they should be proud the state is looking out for their best interest.. Btw that goes for any race here illegally, GO HOME!

It'd be nice if all the money we've sent down there over the years had resulted in the kind of economic miracle Japan achieved.
Those countries need to saw through the shackles of ancient Spain - language, culture and all - and start over. Like Japan did in 1945 and China in the early 80's. Until then, all they seem capable of is pointing fingers. Everyone on Earth is to blame...except themselves. STOP HAVING BABIES LIKE YOU'RE IN PRE-INDUSTRIAL TIMES!!
*********
To UR Personal Highness above:
[sigh...why do I even try...]
If all the reasons you gave for the U.S.' wealth are true, why are so many other countries even wealthier? Like Japan?
The U.S. economy was built on the exploitation of INTELLIGENCE, NOT of immigrants.
If you'll take the time to study U.S. economic growth, it really didn't happen until modern, mechanized industry began to thrive. The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. pointed out that the north had surpassed the south economically since the Civil War because much of the south still relied on labor whereas the north had built modern factories. And by the way, it was going on worldwide - all at once. Where's the support in your story for all that?
The only time we were a sort of stand-alone economic super-power was shortly after the rest of the developed world had managed to bomb the HeII out of each other. And, yes, we helped where invited and it's a good thing we did.
Is this whole thing about a lack of self-esteem maybe? Hey! I'll be your friend! But you must stop being racist in your comments. I'm not a color. I'm a human being. I, for one, never get accused of racism outside of this site and only by people who rant that I'm against poverty. Weird.
And I know plenty of other people (who don't speak Spanish - by the way, that's a filthy Euro-tongue, you know) who, if you know them, aren't what you've been led to believe.
Really, you should get out more. Maybe even to a library with accurate (non-biased) history books.

Just to clue some people, like Bruce and "ur personal..." in on a dose of reality,
I am a US native American indian and I have a few things to say to both of you about what you wrote.
First, Bruce, YOU DON'T SPEAK FOR MY PEOPLE. We USA native American indians (none of which are mexican, or ever have been) do NOT support illegal immigration, and do NOT support illegal aliens.
If you won't come here LEGALLY, then GET THE HELL OUT!
Second for ur personal....,
I don't know where you got your education, but you FAIL at American history.
There were over 400 native tribes in the land which is the USA, before your hispanic ancestors got here from EUROPE, and NONE of our tribes were ever "mexican", or "mexicano", or "mexica", or "aztec", or "mayan", or "meztiso", or "latino", or "hispanic", or chicano, or cholo, or vato, or esa, or homie.
GOT THAT?
REMEMBER IT, and forget all the crap you are spewing (most likely that ridiculous MEChA lie)
GET AN EDUCATION before you post any more LIES on any forum.

I realize that not all illegal aliens are from Mexico. However MOST are!
Illegal aliens don't care about what Americans want. They just care about what they want and if they breaking the law, so what!

Decent people do not openly break laws, and then keep breaking laws. Decent people do not march in another countrys streets, demanding rights, Decent people do not use fake or stolen IDs and SS cards, Decent people do not live 20 or 30 to a place made for 5.

Oh dear! You are joking, right? If certain people left the country only because of what others think, there wouldn't be anyone left in the US!
Hint...Hint for the day!: "They are not wanted here". Who says so? You? It's not wise to speak for other people....it is wise to speak for yourself.
Love and Peace for all.
