yes, but you don't HAVE to. For instance, if you were making ravioli, where you put the ricotta mixture INTO the pasta aquare, you would HAVE to add egg. It's not as important with lasagna, because the ricotta in lasagna is together next to the sauce. If you decide to mix it with egg just mix egg, salt, pepper, grated cheese into the ricotta. Then add it in the pan. And, just a little time-saving tip: you don't have to par-boil your lasagna noodles, just put them in dry, as long as you have made enough sauce to cover around them in all the layers, make sure you start with sauce on the bottom, too.
Good Luck!

It's been awhile since I made Lasagna too but I am pretty sure that an egg goes into the ricotta...Try it and see and let us all know the results.

Yes. I also add grated parmesan cheese into the ricotta/egg mixture.

that is the norm for recipes that called for ricotta & egg
my self I have never used the egg at all, I just put dollops of cheese all over and spread it with a fork or spoon...

Yes, you don't want chunks of cooked egg in the middle of your ricotta when you pull your lasagne from the oven.

Sorry, but I don't use eggs or ricotta in my lasagna.....I make my homemade sauce & prep noodles. In a large glass baking dish, I spread sauce on the bottom, then noodles, then sauce, then a blend of shredded cheeses such as cheddar, montzerella, colby jack, swiss, provolone, etc....keep layering finishing with cheese. Bake @ 350 til casserole is bubbly & cheese on top browns....Serve with tossed salad & homemade garlic bread!

Absolutely. If you want it to be really authentic, use ground chuck, ground veal and ground pork.

Sounds yummy, good luck!
