I'm claiming a parent to be a dependent (she is divorced and I provide for her). I do not have any children. Is there a problem with me filing as the head of household?

Yes, if you can claim your mother as a dependent, then you can file as head of household.

retired_afmil provided the correct link for the rules. Your parent must have lived with you for more than half the year in order to qualify.
