I am 5'7 and 220 lbs. For a month now I have changed my eating habits pretty dramatically. I think that I probably eat about 1500 calories a day, and a lot of that is vegetarian food, brown rice and some cheese probably. I generally don't stray from that menu, usually for breakfast I have an egg scramble of or a protein bar. At first I lost about 15 lbs, now I am staying right at 220, have been for a bout a week and a half. I am starting my period, maybe that has caused some bloating and caused me to look like I havent lost weight?? I don't know why I am not loosing more. I know exercise, but being a mother, wife, student and have a part time job, I really only get to go for a half and hour or twenty minute walk a few times a week.

Ok so what do you think??

Oh, I can't afford weight loss pills from my doctor, they run me $100 a month.

15 pounds from diet alone is a significant start. Good for you! As difficult as it seems to be, you absolutely must exercise more. Cardio, weight training, DVDs... whatever is fun and enjoyable for you. Before long (another month, tops) you will crave that exercise and be able to crank it up another notch. Good luck!

well if your consuming 1500 cals per day and your body burns 2000 cals per day, and theres 3500 cals in a pound of fat that means that on your current diet plan you will lose 1 pound of fat per week. This is exactly what your doctor or nutritionist would tell you, as I should know.

So I can say that without a shadow of a doubt that you will not see signifigant weight change if you do not do a 20 minute cardio workout per day. that means 20 minute runs, jogs, fast biking, swimming, etc.

continue what you are doing, everyone losing weight hits the famous weight loss plateau. the only way to get out of the plateau is to bump up the exercise. Make sure to do exercise that will make you sweat, and get your heartrate way up. To start loosing weight again, start high intersity exercise.

you do need to confuse your metabolism by increasing exercise and do some weight lifting while still changing the caloric intake
