When you say the bacon is "fresh," are you buying it from a local source that gets it directly from the meat packing plant?
Check the label on the bacon. If the location of the plant is in or near your city, then the bacon is fresh. Otherwise, it was frozen for shipping.
When frozen preserved meat thaws, the preservatives may break down and give off that amine odor when cooking. This doesn't always happen, and it has no affect on the taste or your health.

The correct answer folks is because it came from a MALE PIG! Rarely are they slaughtered, but when they are all meat from the male pig has a urine like odour and taste when cooked! Buyer beware!

I've never fried any bacon that smelled like urine. Are you sure someone is not peeing on your bacon?

Anything that smells like urine is spoiled. Maybe you just killed the germs by thoroughly cooking it.

It s boar taint from uncastrated male pigs who have grown into maturity. Not everyone can smell it but for those who can it s a real spoiler.
