I think you'll find the Christian holidays were taken from ancient pagan festivals in an attempt to convert them.
Christmas is in late December, the same time as the winter solstice. All Saint's day replaced Samhain (but it lives on as Halloween). Easter (or Equinox) is another former pagan festival, so is Midsummer's Eve.

No! I don'r even like following government holidays. This country should either celebrate every religion's holidays or celebrate none..I do have one friend who really gets into celebrating President's Day since he doesn't have to decorate, cook or go nuts getting ready for it.

Christmas is not a Pagan holiday. although aspects are taken from Pagan ideas. It is on the wrong date for us. December 21st is Solstice for us and we are celebrating the longest day of the year and the rebirth or the return of the sun, not son. I do give gifts to close friends at this time, so that they can feel that I have covered all my bases with their diverse beliefs.

Do Christian's celebrate Xmas? Does one get a Xbox as an Xmas present? Do they Xchange gifts with their exs???

Yes.

Some christian holidays came from pagan festivals and other christian festivals are celebrated by pagans and even atheists.

I don't celebrate Chistian holidays AS Christian holidays, but as secular holidays. Most Wiccan holy days fall just a bit to one side or the other of Christian celebrations based on earlier practices, with the notable exception of Samhain/All Hallow's Eve, which (of course) I celebrate as the Wiccan holy day and not as the Christian holy day.

Christmas isn't Saturnalia. They have been celebrated on diverse days. you're questioning of the day dedicated to Sol Invictus, which replaced into invented by potential of the Romans *after* Christmas replaced right into a longtime trip between Roman Christians. there is easily no connection between Easter and any pagan trip. examine your sources. And whoever gave Nightwind a thumbs-down is an fool. She is easily superb in her answer.

I don't, unless they happen to fall on the same date as the pagan holidays - but then I celebrate tthem with pagan practices and symbols, not the christian
ones.

Hell yes! Christianity stole the pagan hollidays. You don't think Christmas trees and easter bunnies and eggs are Christian symbols now do you?

Well, Pagans will celebrate any holiday that they get paid for and get time off, don't you?
Peace. :-)
