Have heard that it's Ruby Red............

Guinness is ruby-red in color when held up to the light with a nice cream colored head. The ruby red color comes from the roasted barley added to the pure Irish malt which is the main ingredient.

It might look black but if you hold a pint of it up to the light, it's actually ruby colored.

I think brown but I mix 50-50 with beer. just too strong a charcoal taste.
