Here is your answer, but first of all i want to u to know that in English you can say I love to everyone as your mom, dad, friend and even to your dog, but in spanish is nothing alike see "Te amo" means I love you but to your lover when you used Te amo is more than an I care for you is I'm in love with you. Thats one of the amazing things of Spanish you can say much more with a rich vocabulary, of course sometimes you can confuse but is really fun and lovely.
